I hear a lot about the 5.0 going bad even with low miles on them. Is it really a big problem?

Who do you hear this from and what have they done to them? And what exactly is "going bad"?? Does that mean blowing up and sending a rod through the block?

As others said, this is mostly nonesense. The Coyote is a stout engine, but as with anything it can have issues from abuse or lack of maintenance.

Iā€™m kinda with @EFI here, is ā€œgoing badā€ blowing a gasket after 200k miles or is it sending a rod through the head at 20k miles? Other than 1k+hp builds I havenā€™t seen any with issues requiring complete rebuilds (other than occasional outliers). With the high number of Mustangs sold Iā€™d say they have a great record, much better than the driversā€¦

The main reasons I purchased my mustang over a new Chevy, Dodge etc... was the motor.

As others have requested, please define the statement, "I hear a lot about the 5.0 going bad..." better. And please provide a reference with quantitative analysis (failure rates, miles, reasons for failure, etc.)..People are stating issues with 5.0? Please reference them, not those people, but those specific statements and information.

I'm not the least bit concerned about the engine I'm getting. In the short time I have been here, I've gained confidence I can drive a 5.0 as hard as my nerves will allow.
