Yes, that's the one. Pull the wiring/data harness. For good measure pull out the two coaxial leads too.

You will get no CEL lights, but a scan will show diagnostics in relation.

Pull the plugs!
any idea how to pull the coax leads? clips do not appear to release by pressing

I don't recall off the top of my head. It didn't require any special tools. Take a picture to refresh my memory

Vague memory..... a small screwdriver to release a small tab??? I recall it was fragile and can break, so be careful.

And I thought i had something about it in my writeup a long time ago.
I went back and searched and found some comments on it. I had originally just unplugged the main data cable and left the coax connected as I just couldn't get the clips done. It was on my list to recheck the car after I got it back from the body shop and sure enough they had it reconnected again. It's in such an awkward spot that it's hard to get a good view of the cables from the back side. I guess I could have removed the modem from the mount, but ended up just unplugging the main data cable for now.
I think that should still suffice in getting it to stop communicating...

Unplugging the power/data harness is sufficient enough to stop data transfer. It's like pulling the power plug on your home modem.

You will get scan codes if you use a scanner, but not a CEL light. When you hook a scanner up from time to time, just rest the DTCs pertaining to the telemantics

Well, if I knew it was going to be that kind of party...

I suppose if we need to be sure we can pull the modem out, smash it, light the parts on fire and dance around it. It's the only way to be sure.
I like the way you think!

All you have to do is pull the power/data harness and be done. No need for drama.
