$30 ADM for an R

If you don't like the ADM, simply don't pay it and move on. The problem with getting a ZL1 (or Corvette, for the matter) is timing the massive discounts that always come. It's backwards ADM, and quite comical. I'd be pissed if I bought a ZL1 at sticker, and then hear stories of people buying them at $10K under. Shit, you can get a vette at $20K under sticker. That's just ridiculous.

This is so true. The sad part is, even when you get 20k off the Vette, you still lose your ass the minute you drive it off the lot. With an R or even standard 350, even if you pay an ADM you wont lose your ass as bad as a 20k discount Vette.

This has already happened on a few threads in this forum regarding this car. The only difference is the people that are pissed are those that paid ADM's higher than they are now.

Then if you want it back, they charge you again to put it back. So then, it is almost the same as the regular GT350 and is heavier. The main differences are the spring rates, tires and wheels.

So do you buy the car just to show off to your buddy's, hey look at me?

What is your reason for paying so much more money?

I paid 7k ADM for three reasons.

1) limited supply of cars
2) That driving experience
3) The sound of that flat plane crank at 8,000 RPM

IMO it was well worth it. The feeling was further reinforced the first time I picked up that 19 x 11 1/2 wide carbon wheel and felt how light the wheel was.

I think you're missing the OP's question. He's not asking why there's ADM's. He's asking why anybody would pay ADM for minimal differences from the base model. I think the MSRP delta is appropriate for the equipment differences, e.g. wheels, tires, aero. But his question is what motivates someone to pay a 45% mark-up for relatively small driving experience or performance improvements.

My answer is that it's only due to exclusivity. And the speculating that's also driving ADM's is rooted in this exclusivity.

Everyone that has driven both says the differences are NOT minimal or relatively small.

A LOT cheaper vs other comparable NA german track cars (GT3, GT4) and consumables are a lot less too.

Your precious Z28 much more limited than the R sat on dealer lots and probably still some at dealers....sitting for less than 50k.
Nobody wants your camero and people actually want the 350 and R. Now dial any number you found after the search.

I'll add to the OP's question about "paying to put stuff in that you already paid for" thing.

Simply, you didn't pay for it at first, as a removed item to save weight, you didn't get charged for it. Just because it's included in the base price of the standard GT350, doesn't mean it's included in the base price of the "R".

So, to add it in? You need to pay for that radio, A/C, and back seat if you want it. All these items cost money and aren't "gimmies" on all cars.
