Believe it or not, the 4 cup 2s will fit in the back with the rear seat down. I just made the trip from Illinois back to SC picking up my Mach 1 HP. The dealer was nice enough to give me some tire covers to protect the interior. I didn't notice too much rubber smell, but I only drove 700 miles, and not 2000.
Oh shoot i’m local in IL, which dealer did you go to and what was the motivation to go so far?

My shop hasnt seen a mach 1 yet so i dont think theyre the main source i would want to listen to with this issue as it doesnt seem like its a very common problem with vinyl
The hood stripe on non-FJG Mach 1s has a rough texture that can cause PPF to bubble. Several people on here have posted about it and the most common application is to cut the PPF around the decal and apply a ceramic coating over the entire hood. I'd ask for a test strip on the vinyl (hood only, side stripes are smooth) to see if it'll work or not, if you want to try it. Or, ask if your PPF installer will reapply the film on the hood at no/reduced cost if bubbles appear.

Wait, so what's the deal with the car cover? I took delivery a month ago, not a cover to be found...
The Parts Department at the dealer of purchase is one option if checking; the cover will arrive there. Mine was placed in the trunk, but like the wheel lips, these items ship separate. Sometimes bits arrive and stay in Parts until someone asks about them.

Agree. I did not PPF the hood decal; it's clearly a rough texture. The side decals are smooth.

I've left the hood decal as is. I'm going to apply a paint sealer only, to keep from fading.

I could have had the side decals PPF'd but I left those alone as well; paint sealer only on these.

Someone doing PPF can cut a specific strip for the side stripe itself. Covering the entire area at once, paint and decal with one piece, was not advised. The transition over the decal leaves an edge which will be prone to gaps and bubbles.

On follow-up appointment, I'm going to have the shop remove all the scratches the dealer "detailers" (quote symbols like Dr. Evil) put in the rear valance panel, the black, shiny panel on the trunk, and PPF across that.

Here is a pic of how the PPF came up to the decal.

Got the email from Ford today, I won’t be surprised if this gets pushed back as other have, but getting the VIN and a date is the biggest hurdle so I’m feeling way better about actually getting the car now! Good luck to everyone else!

Your vehicle is scheduled to be built the week of September 5, 2022.
Got an email and was pleasantly surprised they moved my tentative production date up a week!!!

“We have made an adjustment to the production date for your 2022 Mustang Mach 1.

Your vehicle is now scheduled to be built the week of August 29, 2022. We will continue to keep you informed regarding your vehicle's production status.”

If i remember correctly its not possible to get PPF on any color other than FJG right? I dropped my grabber blue off for PPF this evening but want to know what to tell the installer tomorrow morning when i call. Is there anything we can do to protect the mach 1 hood stripe?
My car is being dropped off this morning for PPF, ceramic coat, and ceramic window tint. I’m going to ask him about the stripe, and report back later today when his answer is returned.

When a local shop did my PPF they found that putting the protective film over the sticker left small bubbles because the sticker surface is porous. So they put a new sticker over the old one. Seems to be okay. I take the car back next week for a install check and car wash.

I spoke with him this morning about the matte finish on the hood. He stated, he would try to add the matte PPF. If it looks horrible, it will be peeled off and a discount given for the piece. Right now, it looks like I will have it back home Saturday or next Monday.

Because of the excessive heat we are all experiencing right now, he wants my car to sit in the shop, so the PPF can 100% cure. I will keep you all posted.

I posted on page 301 about my build date being the week of September 12th - and now with the news about the S650 being debuted later that month I'm really nervous it's going to be cancelled. Some people even echoed after my post that Ford is just telling people build dates and will likely cancel them as production will shift toward the new Mustangs.

Can anyone give me some hope? :(

Coming from someone who had a VIN on June 6th, 2021 and was canceled in October, I can't give you a lot of hope. September is just the announcement, not the start of production. Part shortages are the only thing that would stop yours from being built.

DO NOT WORRY, they are still going to be doing a run of S550's for MY2023 starting in Late November. They still have all of October and a couple weeks of November to schedule MY2022 Mustangs, as well as cleaning up the rest of September this week.

What is your build? Put it in your signature so we can all see it.
