Looking at a 2018 GT350 with less than 10K miles that has a Gen 2 replacement engine.
Thoughts on a Gen1 car with a replacement Gen2 engine.
Have paperwork from dealer that did the swap.

It now has a more dependable engine, less prone to burning oil. As long as the owner properly broke in the new engine, I'd go for it if the price is right.
Btw, I have a 2019, whose Gen 2 engine was replaced with the latest engine(Gen 3?). And you could never tell the difference in either performance, or looking at the engine.

I️ am like you, if done properly it is a good way to go.

Make sure the AC works before you sign any papers.

If the work was done properly, why not? New engine is a new engine. As good as this car is, if I didn’t have one, I would be scrambling to get one.

Run the air conditioner and listen for a whine or howl. The compressors on these go bad all the time. I think they cannot handle the crazy RPM these cars run. I never beat on the car and run the AC at the same time.

Does the same issue exist with the 500s?

I think the vibrations and their frequency on the flat plane crank of the 350 messes with the AC system, versus the cross plane on the 500 that does not seem to have the same AC issues. Could be resonant frequencies match something in the AC systems on the 350 making the pipes crack and the compressors go bad, and possibly as another said the high rpm of it is a bit much for it as well. So to the OP yes make sure you run the AC system for a good 10 to 15 minutes and make sure it’s working before you sign papers. Mine just cost me 3600 to get fixed, which by the way was about the cost of a warranty I could have bought when I got the car in January.

Buy it. The Gen 2 is no more or less reliable than Gen 1. Treat it right, let it warm up, don't track it, not even AutoX, it will last.

I don’t track mine I pose with it, and piss off bicyclists on backroads when they use a full lane all spandex and carbon fiber outed, when I cut them off.
