Yeah I am guessing your engine build date is mid 2019 then ?

I suspect my engine build to blend date relationship may be messed up a little due to CV19 i.e. engine build pre CV19 but my blend date was pushed back due to CV19.

It would be interesting to see how long engines sit in the system prior to being fitted (in my case, five months).

Seems the OP's original question has been lost in this discussion of what models have what damper. Anyone have an actual answer?

15-17 use a genuine Fluid Damper.
lol he never asked what kind it was, just if a 15-17 car can use the 18+ damper and if there is any benefit to doing so

specific balancers are for specific engine. lol try to swap you'll have an imbalance. lol.
Isn’t this dependent on whether or not the design of the rotating assembly is internally balanced or externally balanced ?
Like the old days of the SBC, everything but the 400 cid SBC was internally balanced whereas the 400 was externally balanced.
I’m unsure of how the Coyote is balanced. Off the cuff I’d guess Internally balanced.

18-19 and apparently some very early 20's have the fluid (viscous) damper.

They are interchangeable, the viscous damper is about 4 lbs. heavier though.

Externally balanced you'd see weights on the balancer, flywheel/flexplate etc. So looking at the coyote, I'd guess internal as well. Especially with the high rpm's these engines reach.

Sorry.. I mean it was made by Fluidampr .

Just so I’m understanding this correctly.
Ford Motor Company contracted Fluidampr to produce the balancers for the Gen 3 for the first few years of production 2018-2020ish ?

That would be cool, and may explain the switch. Fluidamper may have had supply issues during the pandemic. So Ford switched to an elastomeric instead of halting production.

No, only 18-19. Every other Coyote ever made has an elastomeric damper
Wow. Egg on my face. You are 109% correct. So yeah the 18-19 can be interchanged.
