Iām curious about the center speaker making the system sound bad, and if this would be the same case if a good quality speaker were used in a well-tuned system? Iām running 3-way active right now and I have an extra open channel in my TwK. I thought about using it to add the center channel...
Nice build, man! Youāre going to love the TwK. I just upgraded my shaker system this summer, too, and originally centered it around the Rockford Fosgate DSR1. No matter what I did, I could not get it to sound good with the DSR1. I was able to send it back to Crutchfield within the return...
Curious if you got this resolved or if you contacted Steeda for their suggestions. I have the Steeda street short throw shifter and transmission bushing installed currently, and recently Iāve had a couple āhigh rpm lockoutā issues. Iām wondering if upgrading to the race shifter would help with...
Got a few updates for my build. I couldnāt get the DSR to sound right no matter what I tried, so while I was still was in my crutchfield return window I opted to return the DSR and get a JL Audio TwK 88. End result is the TwK is much easier to work with and the car sounds much better now, even...
Youāll notice that the spare tire well has ribs in it that go from top to bottom. I ran my 1/0 gauge power wire down one of those and my floor cover doesnāt stick up at all. I ran my speed wire the same way on the other side of the spare tire well. My RCAs were long enough that I could bring...
Thanks! I did not need stabilizer blocks. Because I cut out a hole in the amp rack for the center bracket, the bottom layer of the rack sits level in the spare tire well. I was prepared to use some 2ā foam blocks at the corners if needed, but I ended up not needing any. In the finished...
In the premium cars with Shaker systems, the 3ā door speakers and the a-pillar tweeters are wired together. You should be able to tell if the wires for the 3ā speakers are there when you pull the door panels off. There will be a wire harness right near the hole.
Has anyone used the Maestro AF03 t-harness without using the DSR-1? My original audio install included the DSR-1 but I was not happy with it. I returned it to Crutchfield and ordered the TwK 88. My plan is to use the AF03 harness and just wire in RCAs to the input wires of the AF03. I've...
Thanks :). The amps are class D which, according to the google, donāt dissipate as much heat. Iāve run amps in the spare tire well before and so far havenāt had any problems with them.
I just recently installed a DSR-1 along with 2 amps and playing with the tune with the car off has been drawing power for me, too. Iāve been keeping it on my trickle charger that I normally use for winter storage.
Iāve had a strange anomaly happen twice since installing the stereo system about...
Yes, itās the 3/4ā Tesa tape. Iām guessing it acts to fill a void which allows the latch to bang against the bracket when the bass is causing a lot of air movement. I wrapped about a 2ā long piece three times around the vertical portion of the bracket, moving it down with each pass. I tried...
Just a quick update. Iāve been playing a lot with the sound and still feel like I have a long way to go to get it right, but today I managed to eliminate a rattle I had coming from the rear deck panel, even before the stereo upgrade. Unfortunately for me, it wasnāt coming from the rear deck at...
Sorry, I donāt. I started off with rough measurements of the spare tire well and pieced together some cardboard boxes to about the same size, and then just cut the box down in small increments until it fit wheee I wanted it to at the bottom of the well. Cut the hole in the center where the...
They are class D amps. Since getting everything working, I havenāt had much time to mess with it. Hopefully I can start adjusting and tuning everything next week.
I messed around with it again tonight. Re-flashed the DSR-1 and checked all of my connections. Now the sub channels are working fine. Not sure what I did differently, but glad itās working :).
Thanks! To answer your questions, yes, my door and backup chimes still play through the speakers...
Iāve watched that video a few times lol. The difference is they are setting it up as standalone, so they have additional setup options like how you want to use the inputs and outputs. Iām using the Maestro harness so most of those initial setup options donāt apply.
Looks great, nice job!
So far, no heat issues with the amps under the false floor. It hasnāt been that long, but I did run one under my ā15 for a couple years without any issues also.
