I own a 2017 GT Premium and drove a 2018 GT Premium on vacation. What I noticed right away was the 2018 has better OEM exhaust note, better steering wheel. Those don't cost much to swap out. I like the front end looks of the 2017 much better than 2018. Of course the HP difference is pretty significant (although I didn't notice it - probably because mine is manual and rental is an A10 so very different feeling.)

You didn't notice a difference in power/acceleration between your '17 m6 vs an '18 a10?

After all of the replies its clear, I need the 18+ A10

yep, if you wanted manual, different story 17.18 has its trade offs, but auto, 18+ superior in every way

Good choice you won't regret it. Get the 301a if you want the bigger screen and toggle switches for the drive modes. Other options that are worth getting are Magneride, active exhaust and PP1 especially with A10 because it comes with Torsen 3:55 gears. You can add the digital dash if it doesn't come with it it's not hard to install.

I have a 2017 401A car and have driven my buddies 401A 2019. Ford definitely stepped up on the interior of these cars in the 2018+. Push button starter is nicer, steering wheel is much nicer and can be heated, digital dash, small little trim pieces etc. That said I already did a GT350 steering wheel, and am about to do a digital dash. I love the look of my 2017 CS. So i am happy with my purchase.

Keep in mind that I didn't drive my rental WOT in down town Phoenix. For the "daily driving" I was doing, I didn't particularly notice a difference in power per se. Automatics and manuals also have a very different feel to me so I fully expected it to accelerate differently and it did but I didn't notice the additional power. (if that makes any sense)

Me too exactly. Added GT350R steering wheel and all-red push button start and it fits the red stitching of my CS interior. Perfectly happy with my 17 and like the nose better.

I dig it, looks a lot like mine, just black instead of white. I'm honestly a huge fan of those 18 inch wheels, the machined face with the black is very unique and stylish. I also enjoy having a non rubber band tire profile, after dealing with that in the past and getting the faces of the wheels all chewed up from potholes.

I have those wheels, too. I specifically looked for a GT with 18" wheels that had some sidewall height. My BMW has 17" wheels. I was averaging over $2000 per year in wheel, tire and suspension damage with previous cars that had 19" or 20" wheels. Streets around here are brutal on those wheels.

All the magazine tests show the 2018+ M6 GT to be quicker than 15-17, and trap a higher speed in the 1/4 mile. It's indisputable. Most 2018 M6 tests are 12.6 seconds @ 115 mph. Most 15-17 M6 GT tests are 12.9-13.1 @ 112-113 mph. Even with the bad gear ratio selections the 2018 M6 is quicker. It's because the engine makes a decent amount of additional power and mid range torque. Your friend likely just can't drive a stick very well. Driver makes a big difference in M6 cars.
