I’ve had both a 15’ GT and now a 18’ GT. I wouldn’t bother trading a 15’-17’ for a 18’+ but if I didn’t have either I would go for a 18’ + because better features and better power and imo look better especially the tail end.

I generally try to buy the most car I can afford, otherwise I won't be happy. In the long run, I'll lose more selling a car I'm unhappy with and buying what I really wanted, then if I had bought what I really wanted in the first place.

Buy a 17’ and the regret will start to set in 3, 2, 1........

Seriously this is one case where you will thank the stars you spent the xtra dollars. The drivetrain alone is worth it. The digital dash, active exhaust, etc. are all gravy.

I had a 401a 16 GT and went to a 401a 19 GT. The difference is night and day, both in performance and interior quality. The 18+ is easily worth $2-3k more.
What makes the 19 interior better than the 16 ?

Those threads are always funny. Each owner is going to be biased and justify/defend his purchase

let’s talk about facts:
The 18 and up have 25hp and 20 lbs extra
A PP2 for $600 will get a 15/17 to the same level
The 15/17 have a much better manual transmission
The 18 up have a much better automatic transmission
The 18 and up have noisy engines

Now let’s talk subjective taste/opinion

Some people prefer the 15/17 front end over the 18 and up. I do
The 18 and up can have a digital instrument panel
Some people, like me, prefer the regular dash
Some people like big spoiler/wing. I don’t therefore my 17 PP look better to me
Anyhow, save for the automatic tranny, nothing is really a deal breaker. Depend more on your taste
And that include the interior. by far I prefer the base with cloth seats and the PP trim

More leather, better stitching: sport leather steering wheel instead of half-grain vinyl-esq leather, leather on 18+ 401a seats is the full-grain of the 15-17 premier trim option, (401a) soft touch door panels, (401a) soft touch center console with accent stitching, (401a) leather leg pads w/stitching, (401a) heated steering wheel, (401a) full digital gauge cluster, etc.
*Some* of this was available on the 15-17 if you got the aforementioned “premier trim” option (full-grain leather seats, soft touch door panels - the rest, afaik, is only available in 301a/401a 18+), but cars with that option seem virtually non-existent.

Actual rwhp differences between the 2017 and 2018 is actually like 40+ in the real world. That's a significant difference.

What can I say... if you really believe that Ford thought that is was a good way to sell more Mustangs by lowballing the performance...
and btw, a PP2 with usually net you 30hp and 25tq as well than an increased red line
Seriously, I’m trying to use facts, not fictions or the odd dyno reading
And guess what? You have an 18. Lol

And you have a 17. I’ve had both and have no bias. If there wasn’t a noticeable difference on the test drive alone I wouldn’t have switched. How much time have you had in both a 15-17 vs an 18-20? 401a vs 401a, the difference in interior and daily-driver tech alone is worth it, IMO. If you’re talking base vs base manuals, I dunno, both my 16 and 19 were autos, however, OP is looking at 401a cars. The cost of switching out for the digital cluster + getting a level 2 power pack is going to be a wash on the difference in buying the 17 vs the 18 for the OP, and the 18 should still be faster.

stock 2018s are trapping 119-120mph, i don't see a PP2 getting you that on a 2017. it's even advertised as a 21hp peak gain which we all know is not the way to look at it anyways

i’m certainly biased, I don’t like the 18 and up front end, I don’t like automatic, I don’t like rear spoiler, I don’t like leather and I don’t like digital dash
I do like base interior, I do like the PP, I do like manual with the better gearing of the 15/17 and I do love my PP2 ( and my ford performance parts track suspension kit)
So. Yes I’m very biased

if you look for PP2 dynos, you will see that the number I quoted are real
That say, I’m a road racer, not at drag racer so I couldn’t care less about a couple mph or 1/10 in the 1/4
