Does it make sense to buy a 2017 gt premium over a 2018+ gt premium to save $2000-3000? I want the digital gauges and navigation but its going to cost me $3-4k extra to get it.

Depends. Is 25 more horsepower worth the extra $2-$3K? Nope. But if it's a A10 then yah, it's worth the extra$$ if your an automatic type of guy. Digi dash well there's only one option haha.

You can do the digital dash aftermarket on a 17 as well.

It's always subjective...we don't know how much Navigation and Digital gauges are worth to you...we don't know how much $2-4k is worth to you either.

I would just say that if you find it is a tough decision, then the money and the features are worth about the same to you, and so you really can't go wrong either way. I will point out the obvious though, that $2k probably means half as much to you as $4k...so maybe try to narrow down the cost a bit. Maybe finding the 18 at a $2k premium will make it an easier choice.

FWIW. I love the Nav and Digi dash.

It will be an auto and I know the 18+ is a little faster and gen 3 engine. My 16 got totaled in a motorcycle accident so I'm in the market for a new one. Body style wise I dont really care. I know I can put in a digital dash aftermarket, just not sure I want the hassle. Basically, if the gen 3 engine and A10 are that much better and worth $3-4k more, that will make up my mind lol.

Gen 3s produce a bit more low end grunt, even with the tall gearing of the m6. Although, unless you drive back to back, I'm not sure one would notice a difference outright. Taking the set ups into consideration I'd say go with the 18 if you want to stay NA. The DI and compression ratio aren't something you can just bolt on in your garage and those are really nice for NA power. If you want to go boosted then I don't see why the 2017 wouldn't be good and the extra money used towards it.

I will say, though, that I'd try to at least get a 2019 if you're looking for a stick. The engines are identical but the 2019 and up with guarantee the revised shift forks and you also get rev matching. I don't think the autos have any difference worth mentioning but I could be wrong.

Someone posted here a month or so ago about these coyote engines. The gen 3 winging is the better out of the 3 gens.

For about $600 and warrantable, a PP2 will got you to the gen3 hp/torque
I got my 17 gt.pp in 2018 instead of a 18 because, to me, the front end of the 15/17 look much better than the 18 and up
Obviously if you only want 2 pedals, 18 and up for sure

You’re absolutely correct about the front end because of the headlight design imo.

Don't the 15>17 have the potential A/C evaporator issue? If it were me I'd make every effort to opt for the 18 (and I agree with you on the front, but think if you have one it will grow on you). Even if you get an extended warranty to cover the costs, the work to replace the evaporator is massive. From what I understand, the replacement is not really "fixed" and it can go out again. Search this forum for lots of info.
