My 2017 GT makes amazing engine sound. However, I've heard from some that 2018 sounds even better yet others have stated that 2018s do not sound as good.

What's the verdict?

if you're talking stock for stock a 2018 is louder due to muffler design. higher piston compression also helps a bit.

I think the wife's 17 sounds real good stock, I bit quiet, but very potent sounding if you will, all the way up to peak, On my 18 with/active, in quiet mode it sounds very similar to wife's, in normal cold start it is actually quite loud, then slowly quiets down a bit, I have not started car (cold or warm) in sport or track, but when they are chosen, the car sounds very aggressive and potent, especially when you get on it, and>> have the room to do so<< I am VERY pleased with the active/exhaust option on the 18!! It really sounds fabulous in ALL modes!!!

Personal preference
I've gotta agree. The sound of a car is a relative thing. What one finds great another finds bad.

The car only starts in Normal mode, I am pretty sure there is no way to start it in Sport or Track, normal is it, unless you schedule a quiet start within the dash. I don't think anyone has been able to start a 2018 in Sport or Track mode. If someone has, I'd love to know how.

actually I think u can (start an 18 in track or sport) but u have to just hit the start button, and get the car >ON< u know, K,O,E,OF toggle it, and it should start that way, but I have not tried it yet... but yes I schedule my "quiet" starts between 4:00 am and 11:00 am daily. maybe i'll go try it right now.....

Not talking about the exhaust, just the actual engine sound.

The 2017s sound amazing, and I want to see/hear how the 2018s sound.

As we're all aware, the allure of a V8 has to do with how the engine sounds, and if the 2018+ sound different due to DI, then that's something I'd like to know before taking possession of the 2019 Bullitt.

Can you please specify what the difference is that you are referring to? Are you saying to listen to the engine by sticking your head inside of the engine compartment as opposed to just standing outside of the car?

I can say engines make a lot of unpleasant noises when you listen very closely. I can guarantee many M6G members would think something is wrong if they listened to their engine running from underneath while the car was on a lift.

Just the sound of the engine inside the car when you're driving enthusiastically.

Just changing to the 2018 Intake Manifold made a difference in the sound of the exhaust of my 2015. It is louder and deeper sounding just from that one mod compared to how it was previously.

So you are asking which sounds better through the sound tube directed into cabin?

Your local Ford dealer should have a GT you can take out for a drive. :) Before I even ordered mine they offered a test drive of a similar GT from the lot. The other option would be to rent one but if the dealer won't let you drive a GT, I'd see about going elsewhere.

In terms of engine noise, the '18s will have the direct injection "tick"......but this shouldn't be noticeable from the cabin, only with your head under the hood :)
