some progress....and some steps back! All welding is done for the most part but we've decided to replace the roof panel. Just too much oil canning to repair. There was a lot of bondo underneath when we stripped it down. We've gotten this far so might as well do it right. I think there's a small piece of the original body left behind the dash! :cwl: The bead blast date is moving out a few weeks but owner will get us in when we're ready. Just waiting on the new panel to get here in next few days and start that install. Hoping to have it to blaster by Christmas.

Awesome build.. if the restomod's weren't so expensive i'd be tempted to go that route...
Thanks Lorne
Since my son got this as a present, that took the initial cost out of the picture. Anyone selling a 68 in this shape would probably ask at least $15-20K...not saying they'd get it. We've been working on and off since 2018 so material costs have been spread out 4 years. My son's done most of the work himself. We just had the body shop install the rear quarters, wheel tubs and rockers. He'll install the roof panel so we're saving some labor cost. When it becomes a roller I may be able to get the GT/CS back in the garage for winter 😀

Such a cool project! Wish I had the time/funds to do one right now. It’s on my list in about 10 years when my kids get through college, hopefully we’ll still have the ability to do these things by then with the push towards alternative power sources. I refuse to put an electric motor in something like that!

That’s pretty crazy and the power is incredible! I love the paint scheme, the black with green stripes looks phenomenal. I’m not anti electric and I do actually like the Mach E but for a beauty like that I still want to hear the V8 and smell the exhaust fumes. It would be hard to pass up to take to the dragstrip for sure. Cool video thanks for sharing!

i hear ya! I was on the fence when i ordered the GT/CS....kept thinking ...do I need 460HP on the street? The 2.3L HP Eco Boost seemed like a cool alternative but the exhaust note on my coyote sealed the deal! just couldn't get past that ricer exhaust sound :cwl:

Haha I get that! My first Mustang was a 2016 V6 which didn’t sound great but better than the EB. I went with the V6 to get a feel for the platform at a lower cost entry point than the GT. Loved the platform so had to upgrade to the GT. The coyote just sounds so good even though I don’t use all the available power very often. I drove an EB and they’re fun for what they are, just not for me

I just love the 67/68 fastbacks. I seriously looked into doing a completely new ( Dynacorn body, etc.) 68 restomod a couple of years ago. I was talked out of it by another multi car owner enthusiast who told me that if you can't afford to thrown away the money you are going to spend on this project you shouldn't be doing it.
Instead I ordered a 2020 HPP/HP just the way I wanted it. Very happy with the choice, but the '68 still calls..

Just received the new roof panel. Looks better already just laying on top of old roof. Dynacorn quality is great. We have a mix of Dynacorn and NPD sheet metal on it. We’ll start removing old roof this week. Bead blast was moved to end of January so we have a little time. Going to invest in a spot welder. Should help with roof assembly.

Saturday was roof day. Out with the old and test fit the new.
We’re Happy with results. Fit and quality of sheet metal is good.
Roof panel is Dynacorn from Tony D Branda.
