19 350 shifter recall

You can do it Alain, I put one in a 2019 Bullitt I had. It's just a small job with no part of it being really difficult. Just start it when you have some extra time, and have fun with it.

As for you having a hard time imagining how much better it can get with the MGW, I really do hope it is just what you want.

As for me, I know others will disagree and that's fine, but I like the feel of the factory shifter better for anything like normal driving. My 350 seems to shift good to me. For racing, I'd get the MGW again for sure.

Get it installed and let us know how it goes.

Actual recalls are valid for the life of the car.

This isn't a recall, it's what Ford's calling a Field Service Action as it appears they're blaming aggressive shifting as the root cause as opposed to an improperly designed or manufactured component.

Well I can say it's not caused by aggressive shifting! Mine had 7 miles on it and was not locking out reverse leaving the showroom floor

No, it doesn't void warranty. My dealer is installing MGW for free as part of this recall.

The one that I went in Fort Lauderdale to do my first oil change at 900 miles, told me that I need new tires because they were bald.

I ignored the letter since I am not fixing something that is not broken.

My car took 6 months to get here after ordering it. It is now 14 months old with no issues. The transmission is great and feels good. It has not used any oil (one oil change at 12 months).

The tire wear is better than I thought it would be. It has plenty of grip with low thread wear. I keep the pressures at factory (cold) specs while monitoring the tire wear with a gauge.

It's the best Ford Mustang ever made.

I had the recall done today and when I picked up the car at 5:00, I went straight to the Y for a workout. When I left the Y, I backed out of the parking spot and started struggling to place gears - because the reverse lockout doesn’t work! This blows my mind! How does a tech complete a reverse lockout FSA and not check to see if the reverse lockout actually works? Basically, the reverse lockout is now sticky. I can manually push it down to get it to work. If I don’t, I can go back and forth between reverse and first without lifting the lockout knob. Oh - to add insult to injury- when I looked at the shift knob closely in the light in the garage - I noticed the shift knob wasn’t placed straight. So tomorrow morning I will be calling the Service Manager. Question for the group - I have an 1100 mile road trip next week - do you think the shifter is now likely unsafe/likely to fail? I can handle the manual workaround, but don’t want to be stranded 7 hours from home with a defunct shifter.

I hate to here that. I'll give you my thoughts on it, I think you would be ok driving it. I would
be surprised if it got any worse, probably stay the same. My factory shifter done the same
thing to me once, and like you I was going to have it changed. Dealer said they would order
one and give me a call when it came in, they have never called, but mine started working
good after about a week or two of driving it, so I never did have it changed and that's been
about 3 months, it's doing fine now. So who knows maybe yours will do the same [ maybe not ].

But I would have them to look at it when you can. Your right they should have done a better
job. Unfortunately we here to many of these stories.

This is the exact reason why I refuse to have the shifter recall done on my car. It blows my mind how dealers who are supposed to be "professionals" get away with such crap time, and time again. Luckily mine has not been acting up, if it does, I will get the MGW shifter and install it myself.

Just took my 700 mile 2019 GT350 to have one of the tire pressure sensors replaced. I called made an appointment gave them my vin, and asked about fixing the shifter lock out while they had it. They had no knowledge of it, so I stopped by with my letter from Ford explaining it and they made a copy. Three days later I show up with the car, the service manger looks at the valve stems and says they aren't Ford valve stems, all Ford valve stems are rubber. I tell him I bought it new from a Ford dealer with 6 miles on it, I think they are correct. He is adamant that they are not Ford valve stems. Then he asks me if I want to trade it in on a GT 500 they just got in, so I go over and look at it and it has the same metal valve stems. so I tell the guy this and he reply's with "Oh, I guess Ford used different valve stems on the Shelby's", then tells me he has to order the part. Why did i make an appointment specifically telling them I needed a new tire pressure sensor? Why do they ask for the vin? They apparently don't look anything up ahead of time or check to see if they have the correct parts. We hadn't even gotten to the shifter at this point and after experiencing this I didn't bring it up. I wasn't about to let these clowns do any real work on my car.
