What do mean by "a little custom done"?
Hey sorry just seen where you quoted me, I should be ordering the steeda tomorrow curtiousy of David! I had mentioned to him about them offering painted to match from the factory, he said they they will start looking into it for future orders. That being said, I told David that I would just take it to a body shop to have it painted Oxford white to match the car, and then I will be getting the aluminum funnel powdercoated Shelby blue metallic to match my strut tower brace and stripe kit.

Also, anyone have problems closing the hood once they installed this? My hood closes but it's much more difficult now and it seems to protrude more on the side with the filter. Is that normal?
Took a look at it today with the aid of day light... unbolted it and reinstalled... fits like a glove now. Not sure what the issue was from the night before but it was absolutely due to my installation error.
My installation was on the way to ending like yours was originally. When I slide my hand inside the velocity stack and down inside the tube, I found a bad alignment. When I adjusted for the proper alignment, I noticed the air box on the engine side had dropped down an inch or so. This is why I said in my post a couple of pages ago to install the MAF sensor and filter absolutely last.

I just installed mine today... I also broke one of the U clips, those things can be tricky!

Sorry BKinn I see you got your stuff all squared away. Glad to hear it pay no attention to me just playing catch up... I'll leave the comment just in case...

Interesting. Did you make sure the weather strip was seated all the way down. I used a rubber mallet on mine it goes down over a 1/4" onto the box. I had more of an issue with my other intake. The hood was closed 1 time and the hood open light came on? After that I made sure I slammed the hood until I got rid of that one. I had the hood insulation on for a while. It definitely sealed and left a mark on the blanket but did not push my hood up.

So I noticed that "The Menace" had his hoodliner removed and asked the question to him on why he had it removed back on post #94 but no reply as of yet.

Maybe this^ is this reason?
Sorry i missed your first question my bad.

No I actually took mine of purely because I wanted to remove it. I hated the calcium and hard water deposited all over it. It looked like ass. Anyone who knows me or has seen my car in person knows that I am anal about keeping it clean. And that white build up was nasty AF.... And I thought the pony was a nice touch and should not be hidden.

NOPE not the answer, i can tell you my hood sits 100% flush. I have 0 issues closing my hood, and it does not stick out more on that side.
Agreed I took mine off for other reasons. Fitment was not one of them.

Hmmm, but then if you remove the hood liner then surely the BIG advantage of the seal to the hood (the box) is no longer that good?!
Hmmmmm I've not noticed any increase in IAT based on my driving habits and the onboard temp gauge. But you raise a valid point. I know the weather strip left a mark on my blanket so it definitely created a seal. But I would assume it is all good because I have not noticed any crazy number changes on the IATs.

Just make sure you order without the restrictor, save yourself some money if you already know its getting tuned for sure.

Damn, step away from the internet for a couple days and shit-slinging starts.

Here's my .02 cents. Don't like this product or what its manufactures claims for hp/tq increase...don't buy it! And certainly don't feel like you have to be the "internet educator".

Great write up.

1. That rubber was a little tricky at first but after I figured out that first corner I got it on pretty easily with a rubber mallet......

2. I forgot about the 90 and Velocity Stack not fitting perfect I had the same issue but once it is on you cant tell.

3. Yeah that filter is a big bitch isn't she.

4. The sound is pretty impressive. it definitely makes its presence known. I ran the K&N for a while and it was no where near the sound that the Steeda puts off.

here is one of my shots with her cleaned up and re-charged

Here is one before I cleaned it. still need to remove the rest of the sound tube...

Where did u get that blue steeda logo? I just got mine in the mail and I'm needing that with a while lettering steeda decal to match my custom plans with the CAI
