This new Camaro would not have swayed my decision. I ended up paying about 4.5K under MSRP on my Mustang with X-plan and Costco savings plus 0% financing to boot. Won't even be able to touch that in a comparable Camaro (we don't have a discount plan at work for GM, but we have X-plan for Ford).

I also don't love the looks of the new Camaro either, and I'm really torn about the interior. The Camaro looks pretty clean, but I feel the Mustang looks more "cool". Just my 2c.

Unless this ia some joke, plz dont let the door hit you on the way out to Camaro6g.com

Only an idiot would trade a brand new car in for a completely different made/model and lose their ass on it for no reason; let alone for only 20 less pounds and only 25 more hp.
Indeed! 25 hp and 55 lbft more to be exact. But yes people will take a huge hit when they want to trade it in. If you have a loaded gtpp with low miles then you might be able to get a base ss without tipping in more cash but it would still be a hit.

im not a big guy, and I sit low, the high beltline would piss me off. Kinda funny when you see people driving the new camaro, you can barely see their head. You cant even see their shoulders most of the time.

But aren't you one of the biggest advocates of telling people to trade their ecoboost in on a gt?

I'd still advocate use a $1,000 and mod the GT for that 25hp. It'll come very quickly from 1-2 mods instead of losing thousands on a trade.

That too. Price is a huge deal, plus X plan paying at invoice.

With X plan I was out the door with taxes, registration, everything on a 401A GT premium auto with 3.55s for the price the SS bases at (around $37.5) with 0 options and without tax/registration/fees/etc.

First and foremost, as I've mentioned a few times, the beefier brakes alone are worth their weight in gold to any serious motorsports enthusiast. And no, they are not even close to "even". Having 15", 6-pot rotors up front is a *HUGE* advantage if you're going to track your car. The advantage there FAR outweights the Camaro's .3" advantage in the rear. Rear brakes hardly do any of the braking on the track with a front engined car except for controlling oversteer.
FYI, 6-piston brakes are an option on the '16 Camaro SS...the 4 pistons are standard.

And another FYI, piston count doesn't mean the brakes will be any better. Once you reach 4 pistons you are just about as good as you are going to get. Read this for example.

It matters for track use and brake fade. 6 wont experience heat and fade as much as 4.
Not true really. The quality of the calipers/rotors/pads/lines/fluid etc more so determine that. I have a few family members that run SCCA and NASA, and the guys they hang around with a beyond into this stuff. They have said countless times in most cases the advantage of 6 over 4 pistons is zero and the above mentioned items are more important...

My take is that 6 piston calipers show improvement more in the evenness of pad wear . . . if the piston diameters are made different from the leading to the trailing ends of the calipers.

Well after reading 14 pages of this madness I will say my gtpp will smoke any stock 16camaro with the a8 in a drag race ;) Not sure what some of you are so worried about, there are coyotes going 11.9 in 1/4 with only tune and tires.

The Stang does not stand a chance against the SS. The base GT350 is our only hope. 435 hp and more weight means a slower car.
