I thought what GM did was fair. Jalopnik was given a chance to mend relations for scooping their launch (which actually is a very big deal), and they blew it by being the village idiot that crashed a test car.

Now being realistic, as he mentioned other journalists also crash test cars. But when you know you're on probation and you aren't making every effort to be careful, you do run the risk of being punished.

LOL

No helmet, on a track. That can't be good with the insurance companies.

The prototypes are usually crushed later on but still hurts to see a hurt muscle car.

Driver error. Too fast too soon in an unfamiliar car, seemed to be surprised by some early tire squeal but kept running into it, maybe too much concentration wasted on his running commentary. Just following a Z/28 pace car whose driver was likely more familiar with the track probably contributed.

But information about that particular turn should have been stressed in a drivers' meeting rather than mentioned in an offhand manner a few seconds after he really needed to know it.

Was it just me but once he started to skid why wasn't he counter-turning the wheel. Looks like he was skidding left and continues to turn right.

Dumb ass driver if you ask me.

The kid wrecked on what was essentially a paced parade lap, following in a line of cars behind a GM driver in a '15 Camaro pace car.

He had no concept of a proper line, how to shuffle his hands for steering inputs, nothing. So he managed to wreck a car with total lack of ability.

Why the hell Jalopnik chose him as their rep for this event is totally beyond me.
