Just for kicks I tried mine out again today (haven't used it for weeks now as its useless, driver seat only) for a 10 minute trip from town to back home. The upper actually worked a little bit, it was of course warmer than the lower one but it was actually cooling a little. Now it is a bit cooler and less humid today than it has been in the past week. Heat indices have been in the 100 to 115 degree range every day here until this morning. I have no doubt if I would have driven another 10 minutes that the upper would have stopped cooling as well. Its all in the design. I think the units work, its just a poor design. In that thread on the F150 forums someone brings up that GM has 2 vents, one for intake air and one for exhaust air molded into their hard seat back. And I can confirm their seats work WAY better than ours as my father owns a 2013 GMC Sierra Denali with cooled seats and I've had to turn them down on his as my back gets too cool even on HOT days. There is a guy over there 3D printing out pieces that will vent the exhaust heat out and then down. I think what needs to be done to make these work optimally is to have vents in the seat backs for intake and exhaust. Short of that the uppers will NEVER be as good as the lowers. Ford isn't going to pay to replace our seat covers so the best we can hope for is plastic pieces that shunt hot air away and let it pull "cooler" air from below.

The fix will be an owner's manual update. "Prolonged use of cooled seats will cause seats to heat up."

See, I'm having random strokes of working too. Although i agree with you i don't think the backs will work like the bottoms ever, and to replace everyones setup that isn't working well is going to be so expensive, i feel like its just going to be a waste of time and money for them.

My concern now is that when i take my car to the dealer, and they work a little bit they are going to cast me aside. This is a common occurrence with trips to the dealer regarding anything warranty.

Sure, but it was expensive for us too to buy an option that doesn't work. For us in europe it's a 700 eur option.. I don't want to keep my back hot and my pocket empty!

I agree; if you put a option in a car it should work. It's not only FORD who has this issue; I have owned several VW's and for as much as they push German Engineering, I had a ton of issues. For instance;
1. on my GLI I would put my sun glasses on the passenger seat and the seat belt reminder would come on because it thought someone was sitting in the passenger seat.
2. my Passat would never fill up to full, they replaced the gas tank three times plus a sensor to finally get it to work. The car ended up smelling like gas and had the car replaced under lemon law.
3. On another Passat 4motion the trans blew out at 2k miles and it took them 90 days to repair, they couldn't figure out how to put it back together. Had that car replaced by the dealer.

I also had a Honda and Subaru, these had no issues but they were just bland cars.

As for my Mustang, I may have been lucky thus far as I don't seem to have any rattles, squeaks or mechanical issues. I do have the seat issue, but think this will get fixed and as for the rest of the car I think it drives pretty solid. My GLI drove like a shit box and suspension squeaked; so far my Mustang is driving great and looks great as well. Time will tell.

Thank you Deysha, As soon as I have some time to take it in, I will send you this info. thank you for the assistance
You’re welcome, willmkent! I’ll wait for it.

Well, the CSM does not return phone calls. In fact, the last time I was able to get her on the phone was about 3 weeks ago. Additionally, she really did not want to discuss the seats very much at all. The only thing she would do is repeat that the dealer connected the equipment and the readings from the equipment showed that the seat cooler was working.

She refused to talk about what the actual "FEEL" was. I need someone at Ford to do something. The dealer will do nothing more than that. They tell me that they cannot unless the CSM approves it. The CSM won't communicate.
They also said they think they have a new CSM. So, Deysha, can you find out anything, or get someone to talk to me?
I’ve emailed your new CSM and will have him contact you, lwilliams.

I got my letter from Ford regarding the EB heat shielding recall, so made an appointment and took it in with the intent of having them document the seats as well. I'd taken it to a different dealer previously regarding the seats, but they were such a disappointment I had no intent to go back there. ...
I’m happy to get this escalated for you as well, Darko66. Please, PM me with your VIN, dealer, mileage, full name, and best daytime number.

I have about 1k miles on my car and think I have a seat not-cooling issue also. I have a 2014 Explorer sport with cooling seats and those work really good, in fact when on I get to cold. I would assume our Mustangs would do the same.

Last night I thought I felt the back of the seat towards the right side of my back being heated. I assume this is what everyone else is feeling as well.
Be sure to address this with your CSM and your dealer, shockme66! I'm having your CSM contact you again.

Deysha

I've said it before and I'll say it again, this is where we are going to see movement, through the F150 community. Bypassing the "chain of command" (whose sole function is to slow things down and insulate top management) and tweeting the CEO was a stroke of genius.
Social media seems to be where it's at nowadays when it comes to getting action from a company. If you read through the F-150 thread, some people were very active about making the issue known through Facebook, Twitter, etc. and tagging Ford's official handles as well as the CEO.

Hopefully Ford pushes through a TSB for the other vehicles affected by the poor design and not just leave it at the F-150. Logic says they should, but in reality who knows....

It doesn't matter if it costs them $10 per car for the rubber duct work. They'r going to fix it just like the rotors/pads on the PP and regular GT brakes which is a LOT more expensive TSB per car.

If they recognize the problem officially they will issue the TSB

I finally bought an IR thermometer and checked the temperature of my seat. Temperature outside was 85* when I got in my car. I checked the seat before I got in and it was 90* on the seat bottom and back. It was cloudy so sun wasn't a factor. I had the AC set to recirculate and 73*. I turned the seat cooler on max. After my 1 hour drive home I immediately checked it and the seat bottom was 83* and felt cool. The seat back was 97*, basically body temperature. I'm 6'4" and 220 lbs so I cover the seat. At least my seat backs aren't heating like some people's. I sure wish Ford would get busy with the fix!

Did you check the rear of the seatback?

I was just informed that the mapping error in the 2015 A6 NAV SD chip...will NOT be 'fixed'. Ford told me that if I want an error free NAV system, all I have to do is buy a new 2016 Mustang that will have the SYNC 3 mapping! Ford regional manager told me that most of the 'mapping software' in the SYNC 3 system will be permanent firmware and that map updates will be fed in via USB port, so no more SD cards!
So...I think that Ford will soon tell the owners of 2015 Mustangs with cooling seats, that Ford will have fixed the problem in the 2016s and all we have to do is trade in our 2015s for a new 2016!

I guess I'll jump on this bandwagon. My seat bottom cools but the backrest not at all. Long drive from Dallas to Houston yesterday in 104 degree heat confirmed it.
