A TSB could very well be in the works, some here have posted it was coming. It will take weeks/months to circulate and become official though.

OK guys I have an appointment at my dealer to have my seats like that today I shut the windows and I crank the AC and I turned the cooled seats on in the bottom ONLY of the seat started to cool off. The seat back did not at all.

Is that normal operation?

Am I expecting too much to have the windows down and no AC and expect the seats to cool? Keep in mind they do not cool at all in 70 degree weather ... I just want to make sure I'm not blowing this out of proportion

You already have a case, lwilliams. Be sure to address this with your CSM as soon as possible.

Deysha
Well, the CSM does not return phone calls. In fact, the last time I was able to get her on the phone was about 3 weeks ago. Additionally, she really did not want to discuss the seats very much at all. The only thing she would do is repeat that the dealer connected the equipment and the readings from the equipment showed that the seat cooler was working.

She refused to talk about what the actual "FEEL" was. I need someone at Ford to do something. The dealer will do nothing more than that. They tell me that they cannot unless the CSM approves it. The CSM won't communicate.

They also said they think they have a new CSM. So, Deysha, can you find out anything, or get someone to talk to me?

No, that's not normal ... unless you consider them not working correctly "normal" like Ford does. LoL.

What you saw was the same that dozens posting in this thread have also saw/verified on their cars.

Let's ignore the bad circumstances where people are feeling heat.

One thing particularly laughable about all this is that when the circumstances are good we are lucky to get a little bit of cooling on the bottom and pretty much none on the back with the switch set at three blue bars. What are the one bar and two bar settings for?

LOL I think ctlaw was being sarcastic.

I'd like to see some responses from the first few people who pick up their 2016 models and see if it's the same problem.

Oh, that was driving me absolutely postal. I went for weeks without a return call, too. Unimaginably poor customer service.

I have not been reading up on this thread, but the other night I was driving around for about an hour with the passenger seat cooler on and the bottom was slightly cooler than the cabin temperature and shockingly the seat back felt like the leather has been sitting in the sun. Way hotter than the cabin temp and this was driving at night?! Not good

I got my letter from Ford regarding the EB heat shielding recall, so made an appointment and took it in with the intent of having them document the seats as well. I'd taken it to a different dealer previously regarding the seats, but they were such a disappointment I had no intent to go back there.

So, I drop off in the morning and then late afternoon get a call that they hadn't been able to get it in to look at it yet and would need to keep it overnight. Next day get a call to let me know they're working on it. A couple hours later they call to tell me it's ready, but they couldn't do the recall because the parts were backordered and, just like I'd mentioned, when they hooked up to check the seats diagnostic they didn't see a problem. Got the good old "could not duplicate concern" response.

So they had the car for over a day and a half and all they did was plug it in for diagnostics. They couldn't even feel the seat like I told them they needed to do.

Where I expected the response about the seats, I'm at a complete loss as to why they let me make an appointment for the recall if they couldn't do the repair. They could at least have known enough about what's going on to tell me when I dropped it off.

Poor dealership practices. If the parts are unavailable there's no reason to have the car there. They should have told you that when you made the appointment

When I had this issue of the CSM going AWOL, in addition to filing a BBB outline complaint, I called the general customer service number, requested to speak to someone higher than the CSM. When they asked why, I explained that my CSM would not call me back. Within 24 hours I had a call from a Ford Corporate rep who moved things for me. Granted the BBB Outline arbitration demand had gone in as well. Not sure what caused what, but I did get a call.

You need to continue to complain.

Anyone who has the dealer hook up their diagnostic computer to check the seat coolers ... you need to tell them that they 'kind of work' at first, but after ~15 minutes they don't cool anymore. The diagnostic needs to be done after they have been running at least 15 minutes. Otherwise, they will see it's working initially and say it seems fine.

If they check their operation after 15 minutes of running on the 'high' setting, they should be able to see the bottom cushion unit still working great while the top seat back unit fall on it's face and doesn't work at all or gets hotter.
