Just for kicks I tried mine out again today (haven't used it for weeks now as its useless, driver seat only) for a 10 minute trip from town to back home. The upper actually worked a little bit, it was of course warmer than the lower one but it was actually cooling a little. Now it is a bit cooler and less humid today than it has been in the past week. Heat indices have been in the 100 to 115 degree range every day here until this morning. I have no doubt if I would have driven another 10 minutes that the upper would have stopped cooling as well. Its all in the design. I think the units work, its just a poor design. In that thread on the F150 forums someone brings up that GM has 2 vents, one for intake air and one for exhaust air molded into their hard seat back. And I can confirm their seats work WAY better than ours as my father owns a 2013 GMC Sierra Denali with cooled seats and I've had to turn them down on his as my back gets too cool even on HOT days. There is a guy over there 3D printing out pieces that will vent the exhaust heat out and then down. I think what needs to be done to make these work optimally is to have vents in the seat backs for intake and exhaust. Short of that the uppers will NEVER be as good as the lowers. Ford isn't going to pay to replace our seat covers so the best we can hope for is plastic pieces that shunt hot air away and let it pull "cooler" air from below.
