Ive been reading up on a lot of people buying intakes and claiming power increases. Ive seen a ton of videos saying intake and tune for the most power. I honestly believe that the stock intake will preform just as good if not better then the aftermarket intakes everyone is buying. I don't think the need for a intake will be there until a larger turbo unit is fitted. Any dyno numbers to prove me wrong or right?

With the Fiesta St I owned, power numbers were the same with the stock intake and the aftermarket tuned and unturned. Most factory boxes are designed very well these days. Do your homework before spending money you don't need to.

From what I understand the factory airbox is not very restrictive. I wouldn't go as far as saying it's not beneficial to replace it with a CAI, but it's probably shouldn't be the first mod on your list.

Yes this was a pretty reckless post if you're telling me you didn't even take the time to look at the dyno charts posted by ALL of the companies making intakes. Mishimoto, MAP, MMR, AirAid, JLT, etc have all posted charts in their threads which show similar power increases. I believe the main restriction on the stock setup is the filter itself. Most aftermarket intakes are using huge cone filters with much greater surface area

Besides most of us probably got them for the sound and not the power gains

No dyno numbers, but I can tell you the JLT intake made a nice "Seat of the pants" increase. You are going to believe what you believe, just like thinking a good exh system makes no power difference.

Everybody knows CAI are not going to give you gains you will feel or notice. With my FoST, I left in the stock box and swapped out the filter and the inlet tube. The stock plastic 2 piece tube was not as "open/straight through" as MBRP's inlet tube. The increased gain was minimal, I'm sure, but the MBRP was less restrictive and therefore improved, better air flow and that (IMO) is why it's done.
Don't you feel better when you breath freely as opposed to being congestive?

That's why I bought the FFTEC intake, can be used with the stock turbo or their upgraded kit. I agree that you probably won't see a large increase in power, but they change the boring sound track to something a little more interesting.

I just hate the massive size and the way the stock intake quiets the symphony of turbo wailing whoosing sounds.. lol. I went with the FFTec CAI simply because it sits very low and is very clean looking. It most likley didn't actually gain any real power but it sure does sound nice.

I did it for the whoosh sound, plus the cleaned up engine look/extra space. I can also afford to spend money on mods and not worry about it.

I see your Oklahoma re-rx7, so am I. Moore to be exact. Feel free to stop by and I'll show you what gains I have seen testing multiple intakes.

The stock airbox is a restriction. The intake tube is actually a very good design. I have verified this on my own car. I did so by removing the air box and attaching the filter to an aluminum pipe which clamped to the stock tube. I ran my car this way from Oct. 2014, before any intakes were available on the market, until recently.

But to say there are no gains with an aftermarket intake with no proof isn't exactly fair to all the companies who have spent a lot of R&D money to bring these products to market. So far I have not seen one company making false claims about their intakes. They all work and work better with a full exhaust.

I did the same on my car for a week before I got my FFTec CAI simply because I had a 4" cone filter laying around and some 4" PVC pipe.. lol. The stock tube does seem really nice. I'm surprised no one has come out with a budget type setup using that idea.

You've already made your decision, as evidenced by your willingness to tell people to "Do your homework before spending money you don't need to." Why should we indulge you in your pot-stirring?
It's a bit ironic to tell other people to do their homework though, since you're asking other people to provide the dyno numbers for you. Do as I say, not as I do...that sound familiar?

Typically, one should gather impartial data and then draw conclusions from that data. You're stating an opinion, excuse me, a "belief," based on a different car, and looking for data to back it up. That's a logical fallacy in the most classic sense.

Not sure if it was map, Mishimoto, or maybe even Jersey Devil did mention something on one of their R&D build threads that the stock intake was actually very well-designed from the factory. There's no doubt the filter can be swapped out but Ford did their homework on it.

Please! Primary reason is the promise of power. If it sounds good, added bonus.

Any significant power increase that can be measured is from the tune, not the filter and or air box.

Sounds good and thank you for the invite. Were the power increase was it intake only or intake/tune? Also what were the IAT temps with this on the dyno. Hood closed none of that open hood unless its open going down the highway lol.

Ive looked at a lot of dynos and almost all are intake tune. Never seen a intake only. A lot more to a intake then just power. IAT's can skyrocket, filter size, using metal instead of plastic. A lot of things can make a difference in a lot of different areas. Stock box with drop in will be damn near an intake. I bet money on that.

Im not downing the people that already bought an intake. Id they are happy, great! Im just looking for of a reason to buy one besides the "it makes cool noises" reason.
