Best thing I've learned over the years is a corner spot. I always sacrifice the passenger side of the car and just let it be. I park as close to the edge of a corner spot as possible and still have gotten plenty of idiots who park literally on top of me, over the white line... Dings are my biggest concern, I hate them with a passion, no one can truly understand my hatred for this. I taught my wife to follow the same routine in parking lots, so far our SUV has one small ding on the passengers side after 4 years, not bad for the grocery/family car.

I've been parking my car at work the same way in a corner spot but recently someone who drives an altima has been taking it! I've always seen the altima parked randomly and all of a sudden few days in a row now my spot is gone. It's like an unwritten law if someone parks in the same spot for a while you don't take it!!! :frusty:

I don't think so. While I sympathize and I also currently claim a spot as 'my own', if it is non-assigned parking, first come, first serve.

I would love to be a psychologist to understand this stuff.
While you're at it, can you figure out why people insist on taking a piss right next to you when there are 5 empty urinals in public restrooms? I'm sure whatever defect in someones brain that causes them to park next to you in an empty lot also causes them to stand PRISON SHOWER CLOSE to you in a restroom.

I can honestly say this happens so infrequently to me, I can only assume it has happened to me at some point in the past. Unless, of course, there are only 2 urinals.

Dropped by the local FedEx place to pick up a package at 10:30 AM on a weekday. No one except 2 cars in the parking lot on the edge (guessing employee cars). I'm at the counter talking to the guy and the door chime rings, guy walks in. As I'm walking out, I see this. ENTIRE PARKING LOT EMPTY and he parks his shitty ass FailBlazer right next to mine. There were many spaces closer to the door. I would love to be a psychologist to understand this stuff.

Look how far over away from you he parked though.

My bet is he was drawn to the car and wanted to look at it closer when getting out of his car. He still had the courtesy to leave a huge gap so as not to door ding you.

Looking at the spacing, he left plenty of room. I don't think his doors could reach you if he tried. He's sidled quite a ways to the right.

Look at how much space he gave you, he actually did you a favor and protected the passenger side of your car from a true asshat that would have parked much closer.

edit: Also -5 points for not backing into the spot.

I just look for the closest end spot that is uphill and park there. Parking far away just invites children to screw with you.

sorry.
ugh, those people are the worst. backing into spot is only for middle of night when there's no one that would need to wait for you.
Or if you are the driver in a bank heist.

And the farther you park, the closer they park to you, even though they're are spots closer to the building in the lot!

unfortunately it's going to be a battle we will never win!

I was pleasantly surprised on how much volume my trunk has. I was thinking about storing a couple of orange construction cones in there and placing them in empty adjacent parking spaces. LOL.

He was looking for shade. People. I hate when they park near me especially when I park away from them.

Parked way off at the end of a bank's parking lot and two high-schoolers rode up on
bikes and proclaimed that they were going to steal my car. So I replied that I was "toting" and they better drive away quick. Well I did not have a gun but for a second I kinda wish that I had one. One of the punks proclaimed that they were only BSing' me...then they said they had never seen the new "Tang" and it was "way cool". I went into the bank and kept a look-out on my car through the window. I expected they might key it...but they did not. After leaving the bank, I saw the two boys a few blocks away and they tried to follow me down the road. Such is the attraction of the new body style. I'm not sure these guys would have been so bold if I had parked closer to the entrance to the bank's entrance. Just saying...
