Ford previews 4-door Mustang hybrid sedan (Mach-4) to dealers

with all the mustang crash's so now they can have a carload of people in the crash. NO.

I am old school, a 4 door Mustang is just wrong, call it a T Bird, a Falcon, a Cougar, just leave the Mustang legacy alone. Its already been hurt with that EV.

Shiiit... If they make a V8 Mustang sedan with a stick... Man, that's going to be tempting. Especially if they have a performance trim like the Dark Horse.

I absolutely love my Mach 1, but I was THIS CLOSE 🤏 to buying a CT4-V Blackwing instead. If the Caddy had the LT1 from the Camaro, I woulda done it. I like the Coyote better as a motor, but I also like having a usable backseat.

... Having said that, I don't disagree with the people suggesting to call it something else. But I'm not that bothered by that. The Mustang name has already been permanently butchered much worse by the Mach E. Times change.

I mean sure, whatever, but the nameplates, Mach-4, Mach-E etc. Just stop dragging the Mach nameplate through the mud. It was already enough of an F up doing it once. Call it a Dark Horse-4 or something, since they went on and on about how they don’t want to resurrect old nameplates anymore. Yet, continue to do so in the worst ways. I wasn’t alive in the 60’s, far from it, I was born in 2000. But, it still pisses me off to see the heritage of these cars messed with without regard.

I have to say I like that. Much better front end that the non GTD 650's and has some nice styling. Would be nice to have that and my other. A daily and a weekender so to speak. It wont look that nice though by the time they get it anywhere near production as usual though. And agree on the AWD, it needs to challenge the A4-A5-A6 and mercs to be a success so needs to match them for that.

I’m ok with Mustang being a brand, with sub models under it. Mach E is probably just about at the end of its run and I doubt there will be a 2nd gen. They could also make a BRZ size model.

I'm fine if Ford wants to build a new Crown Vic, but as a unibody rather than a full frame car. Great. I always liked those big, slow comfortable cruisers with the same drivetrain as a Mustang. With the mass of the S650 Mustang being within about 200 lbs of the former Crown Vic, they are already close. Just missing the doors and even more size and weight.

I'd never buy one, and very few others will buy it either. But hey, why not give it a shot? They make good police cars if they are large enough. It's probably a precursor to making the next Mustang even larger and heavier than the S650.

I prefer they don't call it Mustang, but I'm no longer surprised and angered by the depths Ford will sink to. The company I used to love really needs new direction.

Ford seemingly will attach the Mustang badge to anything if they think it will sell the car. Next we will have Mustang trucks. They are on a path to destroy the Mustang legacy of a true sports car. Call it anything but not a Mustang. They are eventually going to destroy what a Mustang is and was and no one will want one.

A 4-door version of the Mustang can be a success like someone pointed out similar with the Porsche Panamera however, Ford please stop dragging the Mach nameplate through the mud.

Lots of pearl clutching in here. A sport sedan with an option for a V8 and manual, and very likely to be AWD and possibly hybrid is somehow dragging the Mustang/Mach name through the mud? Seems like another good way to carry the legacy forward IMO. The 2 door fastback isn’t going anywhere either.

Falcon, Crown Vic, etc. do not have the same name appeal as Mustang. It’s a brand-centric world, like any smart business, Ford is trying to capitalize on it. Wouldn’t surprise me if the sedan outsells the fastback, just like the Mach E already does.

Mustang at its core is an evolution, originally developed to be something completely different from the cars of the 50’s. So, in actuality, the Mach 4 (and Mach E) is the very thing Mustang originally was. An alternative, an evolution.
