Ford Plans a Four-Door Version of Mustang
The design would be a first for the automaker’s ‘pony car’ and possibly broaden its consumer appeal

"Ford Motor has told car dealers it intends to produce a four-door, gas-powered version of the Mustang for the first time, adding a variant to the “pony car” that has sold in the millions since 1964, according to people familiar with the matter.

The four-door Mustang was shown at a dealer event this week, the people said. It could go on sale before the close of this decade and resembles the current two-door Mustang, one of the people said. Two of the people said the car would have hybrid power; one of the people said it would be a hybrid"

The hybrid part is interesting. I'm probably in the minority, but I like the idea of a four-door Mustang if they do it right. It worked for Porsche with the Panamera, plus I need something cool to replace my SHO with.

I’ve come around to the idea of using Mustang as a brand. I still call the Mach E a fake Mustang (mostly because I’m just not a fan of EV’s), but it’s still pretty cool. I’d be interested in a 4 door V8 for sure. Maybe I could keep up with @HoldenSSVandGT350 and his Chevy SS

Not too long ago I was on the highway with my Mach 1, and a Mach E GT came up beside me, in the front passenger seat was a young boy, guessing 10-12. He was pointing and saying something to his dad. Popped the car in track mode, down shift and ran it up to 90, then backed off back down to 60. They came up beside me again, both with thumbs up and big smiles. I don't mind the Mach E too much, but that's the only way I refer to it as, but it's still a microwave and not a Mustang.

Any other name would have been better. But it does look good. Side skirts will never be that big.

I've wished Ford would bring back practical cars for some time. Glad to see they are working on it.

1. They aren't going to sell this as a cop car
2. The vast majority of the Dodge Charger sales were not the high end V8 model
3. Can they even build this on the S650 platform or will this not show up until the next re-design?

I like it. I think a 4 door mustang would sell, let's face it, the back seat in just about any mustang ever sold is about worthless for an adult. V-8 with a manual then throw a supercharger on it along with some suspension mods, I may even consider one. Don't have kids, but my dogs could ride back there, since currently they have never been in my car. Don't really like the Mach-4 name though.
