I’m curious for those that may also own EV’s, what does your electric bill look like relative to gas prices. In general, my electric bills (no EV in my garage) have almost doubled from just a couple of years ago. We have a large data center in the area with several others being proposed, the timing of it coming online correlates to my electric bill spike. I know there are several other massive data center projects being talked about or being built. My assumption is that electricity is not or will not be a cheaper alternative, but am curious what EV owners see. I’m not considering an EV personally, but I am curious if the electricity is cheaper than gas argument holds water anymore. Even with gas prices so high.

And no, I’m not trying to start a political argument around EV’s. I’m interested in the “cost at the pump” comparison.
Well, we’ve also had a Mach E 4X since October ‘21. It replaced a ‘17 Pilot Touring that averaged 23mpg over the 55k miles we drove it at approx 18k/yr. The Pilot cost approx. $225-275/month in gas at $2.75-3.00/gal gas prices. The Mach E costs about $70-95/month with our rate of approx. $.12/kwh. We belong to an electric co-op and our rate has only gone from $.095 to $.12/kwh in the last 7.5 years. The savings are still big in our case and we don’t even have any solar like many with EVs do.

And yes, we drive the Mach E as much or more than we did the Pilot. We just crossed 80K miles last month and so far battery capacity decline has been negligible. We hardly ever fast charge it except on longer road trips and stay at/under 90% on a nightly basis charging at home. Not only that but it’s actually very fun to drive because the Mach E engineers actually programmed a neutral handling balance into the nannies, you can even get a couple degrees of yaw out of the tail in lower speed corner exits before stability control intervenes.

That’s good info, thanks. I like the Mach E (I know it gets poo pooed because it has the Mustang name), but I test drove a GT and really liked it. If I was in the market for an EV, I’d definitely consider a Mach E. Audi has some really nice EV’s well.

Glad to hear you’re seeing some cost savings in electricity vs gas. Would curious to know how many others are seeing similar savings

Current prices in Hudson, NY. Coincidently this is the closest E85 source to where I live... over 40 minutes away. The rest would take hours to get to....

When it comes to electric prices I pay no bother, I have solar and it covers all of my heating, cooling, and electric needs. Best investment I ever made!

$4.50 this morning in Springfield Missouri, and $5.89 in Metropolis Illinois this afternoon. Then $4.86 at a different station in Springfield this evening.

I have a coworker who owns an Audi EV and he says it's a lot cheaper for electricity vs. what he used to pay for gas. I don't have specifics.

He did say that he's paying more for tires now. For some reason the tires don't seem to last very long. I'm sure it's unrelated to the rapid acceleration that he tests regularly.

I'm guessing they don't sell a lot, that's why the price is so low. I traveled by back in the winter and am pretty sure it was almost the same price as regular then ($3.25/gl).

The biggest reason EV's go thru tires more often to a comparable ICE vehicleis the added weight of the batteries.

Saginaw, MI. Before and after rewards card. She was thirsty. I don’t usually run it down that low.
