Dark Horse SC, who's adding one, who's replacing with one, what will it do to GT500 values?

For track rats the question will be ok, how much faster is this going to make me and at what cost?

For everyone else its a question of do I like how it looks and how cool am I going to look inside it? I mean, that's all I'm thinking about as a non track rat. What am I going to do with all that performance on a back road? I've got all I can handle in my current lineup which isn't anything like a GT500.

On a serious note? Personally I'd probably buy the new M3 over this in the base manual RWD configuration. A couple hundred pounds lighter, better interior.

The M3 is definitely a nicer car, but the Competition XDrive would be more comparable in terms of price and performance considering the DHSC cannot be had with a manual. Still, the Mustang would likely eat the M3's lunch on a track (it better for what it will cost) but on the street, the M3 is definitely a better car all around.

This is NOT ALLOWED...................

Don Yenko, the legendary Chevrolet dealer and racer who created the iconic Yenko Camaro, passed away on March 5, 1987, at age 59.

You are no longer allowed to use the name or nomenclature from a previous car, if the person is dead.
So, the GT350 and GT500 shouldn’t have been Shelby’s? Should they have been called the Pericak’s instead??

Was just pointing out that Chevy did not get the memo, "that you shouldn't use Shelby or GT500 since Carroll is gone", as some here have alluded too. Should have at least kept the GT500, unless Shelby Corp flat out said no.

You can use the name of the dead person or company name for commercial purposes if executor of the estate allows it. Or if the rights have been sold.

Understood, but it was not clear to me Ford said that, and many "fans" have outright said Shelby name can't be used, as he is dead.

Well the many fans are wrong. If you own or lease the IP, you can do what you want with names, dead or not. Ford was paying Shelby money to use the IP name GT350 and I’m guessing that they wanted it back or Ford did not want to pay the license fee anymore. Ford could offer them a cash payment to buy the name GT350 or GT500. Ford has trademarked Boss, Mach 1 and other names for vehicles and they own it outright. I think they own Cobra name too but not the name Shelby Cobra. This is all in respect to vehicles. IP rules and laws are crazy stuff. Lawyers make lots of money enforcing it or trying to break it..Shelby USA used to go after kit replica cars, that used the name.

Ford just got tired if paying for the name since the car is being engineered in house and built at Flatrock not Vegas. They just should have thought about the name a little more. Boss or mach 1 should have been reused.

I was just playing around with the build and price on Chevy’s website, the Z06 optioned the way I’d want it is 136K

I seriously doubt the DHSC will outperform it in any metric.

What would the DHSC need to be MSRP to end up street priced less than the Z06?

Have a good friend that has one. It’s a really nice car. I will say from a 50-60mph roll my 500 pulls away from his car. Off the line the ZO6 is much better. They’re two very different cars. What’s amusing to me is twenty years ago if you told people a mustang and a corvette would be being compared to each other people would have laughed you out of the room. I think we’ll see the SC loaded in the 125k range, time will tell. I’ll go out on a limb and say the SC will hold it’s value much better then the ZO6 just because of production numbers. Not that that should be part of the decision process. Guy’s that are/have been mustang guys generally have been for a very long time and the decision, atleast for me, is what the choice is about. Lets be honest, very few have the ability to get the last 1/2 second of performance out of any of these cars, especially how most will be used which is on the street. The spec stuff for thr most part is for the bench racer crowd, which lets be honest again, they’ll bever buy or own either of these cars let alone the other offerings. As a car guy I’m just extatic what we have as offerings from all manufacturers and even more so the mustang is still with us from the bottom of the line to the top.
