I never noticed it to be an issue. That giant TV as a dash looks like shit though.
I agree, the dash one the latest gen is horrible!

You're right that the stock shifter is too tall. I replaced mine with a short-stem White Madness kit. I hate the stock auto shifter. Had to hack an inch off of the stock stem but it's much better. It does indeed look more like a manual, and I like it much more this way.

Now THIS is much better that the current setup. So much cleaner.

I mean I'm not a fan of that either, but that's just modern reality anymore.

It would have been cool if the button was pressed with your pointer finger like a fighter jet or joystick. Would have been a lot more ergonomic for people.

Here's mine. I had the original WM shifter, and then his latest improvement. It has been reliable for several years now.

I switched out the boot for the manual version. This was definitely to fool people that my car is a manual, but only to not disappoint those that think every GT should be a manual!

Might be able to swap it out for a rotary dial one, from an Expedition or Bronco sport. People do this all the time in the F150's with the stupid lay flat thingy.
Dials are the worst freaking things. Ever. I test drove several vehicles in the past 3-4 years and I could not get past the dial shifter in some of them...like the Explorer. I want a shifter handle...lol.

I have both now. Actually all 3: My manual, the wife's GT 10R, an Expedition and a Maverick with dials. It took some time to get used to the dials. The first encounter with them was the GT500!! After that, I started using the paddles in my wife's car. They really don't bother me anymore.

At least the shifter is still connected to the transmission by a cable to actuate the park system instead of the completely electronic shift-by-wire rotary dial or push button switch used on most other vehicles..

Gotta pay to play…..
Your car, your money. Trust me I've spent plenty on mine as I see fit. Not always the best or smartest, but that what makes the Stang so good. Lots of possibilities in the aftermarket.
