Dang, you are right. They initially announced it, but then rolled it into the R program. Interesting. They never did a DH S, just the R which is not street legal.
Based on the pictures, its underwhelming to me anyway. Its essentially an S650 - GT500 reboot without the name. We'll have to wait for performance numbers, but its likely going to slot somewhere between the 2020-2022 GT500 and the GTD.
I was honestly hoping for something more aggressive in styling/aero than anything. This looks a little vanilla to me. If this is the "corvette killer", Ford isn't wrong beating up on a base Sting Ray, but its really just a marketing gimmick.
This is what happens when you have to back engineer everything. If Ford had started a program, with the ultimate intention of making some crazy supercar, like GM did with the C8, the R&D costs go down substantially, as they can spread R&D costs all across the lineup, from base C8 all the way to the ZR1x.The bad thing about something that could actually compete with the (high end models) Corvette would a 3rd generation Ford GT and be $600k
I with you in that 1%. It would be cool if Ford actually offered a model that offered a lot of the changes people do via mods for things like track days. But it's not a sexy to the average consumer as more horsepower.I realize I am the 1% of the 1%, but give me a DH that has had a massive diet, with sphericals everywhere, solid bushings, and an A-Arm suspension. Now we are talking.
I hope you’re right. If Ford is allowing groups like Red Bull Racing to “leak” it ahead of time (I use quotes because you know Ford authorized the release of the video), I fear they may be trying to amp up public support for it prior to the actual launch. So an ugly take on the S550 GT500? Got it.
Where's my 7.0L Godzilla brawler?
Underwhelmed is an understatement....hope the Dork Horse SC isn't the big news.
Fingers crossed you two are right, and they drop a mid engine supercar on us! But considering there have been zero spy shots of one, I'm not holding my breath.I hope you’re right. A new program, with an actual 2 seater, would be so much better. The Red Bull video dashed some of my hopes for that. Unless it’s a distraction…

If I remember right (which I may not, my brain sucks some days LOL), there wasn’t much out there on GTD before it was launched. So maybe it’s a very well guarded secret and they’ll spring a big surprise on us. But I’m not holding my breath at this point…Fingers crossed you two are right, and they drop a mid engine supercar on us! Now an all aluminum 7.3 and a 6060 bolted to it, with a trim level consistent with the Base R package, oh boy!
