No need to remove. Just see how easy to pull panel away from tunnel. Compare other side. If dramatic diff easy side's probably missing. Hood release. That appears to be Steeda’s red latch. Aluminum instead of the stock plastic
It’s a really nice piece. I’m deciding between the red and the black for mine.

It always seemed like putting lipstick on a pig. What's between that lever and the latch is a complete sh1t show. Every time you pull it, you wonder if this is the time the cable snaps leaving me with an immediate problem and a massive job to replace with a hood that can't be opened.

Like Galaxy said, we don’t really “need” a lot of this stuff LOL. But, it’s a nice touch and I know of a few local S550 owners who open their hoods (or bonnets) quite frequently and the plastic release broke on them. I get it, but I worry about the plastic handle breaking more than the actual internals. I know a few folks here locally that have had their plastic handles break.
Neither did any Dinosaur before the asteroid hit. Ignorance is bliss is not a negative saying. Its an affirmation that bliss is well worth the price of some ignorance.
Didn't think of that. But if the factory handle can be as easily replaced after breaking, there still might be a value in a sacrificial weakest link. I.e. when the factory lever breaks, stop crossing fingers and mitigate whatever about Ford's choice of cable routing makes it put such a load on the cable. I recall my first dealer visit was to try every lever on the lot to see if mine was normal. It was. LoL
