I’m thinking he was just trying to murder it out and bring some balance to it? It matches the front horse emblem , so I can kinda see what he was trying to accomplish? But yeah, I guess he sold it? I just ordered a takeoff panel from Fleabay.

I think someone said that was how the Mach 1 badge's were supposed to be and on the prototype they were but instead changed them to what we have now. I mean on my car it would have just blended in.

That's true, on the pre-production cars they were all black. And yeah on your black car they wouldn't have the same effect, it's why I left the rear decklid badge silver.

Maybe because of part shortages, Ford production line put the panel on it to get it out the door.
Most buyers would not know the difference.

Would you send a Shelby gt500 out the door without a snake panel? There is quality control that has to be adhered to. I don’t believe a Mach 1 went out the door with a horsey panel.

Pretty sure this isn't the case. Someone just liked it more this way. Tells you something he stripped the side vinyls too. People change it to their liking. Which is silly when they're gonna sell it shortly...

THere have been cars sent out the door with one recardo seat and one standard one.
So, Quality is job 1 left Ford in the late 90's.

Maybe, but most don't plan on selling things they just bought. Then get a laid off letter. or a pyle of divoices doc's or a medical emergency and things change.
Don't really matter if the owner swapped it out. or the factory or the dealership because of damage when they got it.
What is shocking is what Ford think these cheap plastic parts are worth.
No wonder a light tap totals s550's it is the retarded parts cost.

Isn't there a guy on here with two different taillights on a shelby and swears it came from the factory like that. And won't change it because of that. There's also reports that a dark horse was delivered with one US spec taillight and one euro spec. Weird things can happen.

Sounds like no damage just the original owner was customizing. Looks better stock imo, glad the OP is fixing it
