Hi,

I'm looking to purchase a mint condition Lightning Blue 2017 GT350 with only 6,600 km (4100 miles)! The car has an full ESP coverage until April 2026 which is great but I would like to know if it was brought in at any point to a Ford dealer by previous owners complaining of oil consumption. From what I can tell, it is the original engine but it is impossible to tell if it is consuming any oil until I own and drive it for awhile...

Does someone have access to the Ford Oasis system that could pull the record of this GT350 ? I would really appreciate it !

The VIN is 1FA6P8JZ8H5523868

Thanks !

Hey OP, the mileage is so low that I don't think it would have much consumption at all, but I'll add in @SheepDog to see if they can help you with the Oasis report. Sheepdog was kind enough to provide me with an Oasis report on my vehicle in the past. :)
Good luck with the purchase. The 2017 Lightning Blue color is AWESOME.

Good request for the OASIS.

Aside from the OASIS, the absolute FIRST thing any potential buyer of an S550 GT350 OR GT500 whether high or low mileage should do is make for 100% certain this TSB was done to the vehicle for affected years. GT350 Timing Chain TSB thread if you have not seen it:
https://www.mustang6g.com/forums/threads/tsb-for-secondary-cam-chain-tensioner.158799/

Even if the GT350 doesn’t fall within the years in the TSB, I’d still get that checked before buying.

The only TSB I found is the Camera/Trunk harness (22S06) ... had it done on my 2016 GT in the past. This TSB does not show up on my VIN ... I could have it checked after purchase as I have an ESP until next year.

Wasn't the color I was initially looking for but it is very nice in person ! I would have like the opposite (Oxford White with Blue Stripes)

I went to my local Ford dealer and had them pull up my car's service record.

When I purchased my car way back in 2017, I had not decided on a specific color, but when I saw the LB for the very first time, I knew I had to have it.

Still driving it. Nearly 27,000 miles and trouble free.

Why not just have the local Ford dealer do a pre purchase inspection. Not usually more then a fre hundred dollars and it’ll have all the oasis and warranty history with it. With the esp in place and the car being so nice I wouldn’t be very concerned, you’re covered ragrdless. We’ll need pics! Great color.

I wanted to avoid going to the dealer if someone could pull the record but I will go today to try to get the history.

I have the CARFAX history with the certified mileage etc. so I am not concern on that front. As I said, the car is showroom and apparently was never driven in the rain ! It has PPF in all the key areas, original tires with no sign of burnouts, I am more concern of the infamous oil consumption where I want to see if the previous owner brought it in for that reason and maybe the consumption was not severe enough for Ford to take action; anyway, I would have a year of ESP (or more if I extend it) to take action.

It will have oil consumption, it's almost no miles, and it's pretty well documented the Voodoo needs 10,000 miles or more for break in.

With that low miles, I would start to worry about dry rot in seals. Magride is notorious for that.

Just take it to the dealer as @Inthehighdesert says. Your going to spend all this money on the car, what's another couple hundred for peace of mind?

The whole oil consumption deal has been parroted to nauscium and blown way out of proportion. Gotta love the internet. Seems like your buying a beautiful example. I get diligence but don't let the rest weigh in much. These cars are amazing. A service advisor at your local dealer should tell you real quick on the phone. Most are helpful that way, at least around here. One or two phone calls should get you the info you need. Best of luck. We'll still need pics!

When it comes to oil consumption for this vehicle, not sure where you are getting your information from but after thousands of miles of seat time in these great cars that has not been my experience and as @Inthehighdesert had previously mentioned this whole scenario has gotten blown way out of proportion.

With you already owning a Mustang and hopefully using a local Ford dealership to service it from time to time, why would you want to avoid your local Ford dealership as they are your best and most reliable resource in order to provide you with timely, accurate and detailed information regarding the subject vehicle?

I do as well. I think we agree the engines are far more robust then they get credit for.

That said, I had oil consumption issues until about 10,000 miles. After that, it seemed to almost completely drop off. I just continued to drive the car because I knew I had a warranty, and performance wise, nothing dropped off.

It's my opinion these engines have a long break in period. I think people ran around screaming because no one knew it. They kept replacing clean oil, making it harder for the engine to break in, then Ford, rather than review the "oil consuming" engines and determine root cause, just dumped a new motor into them.

I think for 99% of people, the engine will last a long time with proper maintenance. Start tracking it, just assume you are going to lose an engine one day. As you would with a coyote, an LS, a hemi, etc...

Just my opinion of course.
