Are you referring to the Legend moniker that's being touted or the Boss nameplate they trademarked again in January?

I wouldn't get stuck on either. That said, if "most track capable (non-GTD) Mustang ever" is applied to it then Boss sure would have a nice ring to it.

I'm going to go with Dark Horse Boss. Ford already has the Dark Horse name trademarked, and the new trademark filed in January in the U.S. is only for Boss. The European trademark filing in January is for Dark Horse Boss specifically, so that would cover their bases over yonder.

I’m not in the know like Tob (I do have family in the American auto biz in Detroit both in-house and supplier side, so I do hear some rumors from time to time) but Dark Horse Boss is a name I’ve heard a few times now. And yes, Tob is very good with leaving bread crumbs…

I really REALLY hope they don't use Dark Horse Boss! That's would ruin the name Boss in my opinion. Call it a Boss 5.2, a Boss 7.3 or if we're lucky a Boss 429!
A destroked Godzilla with an aluminum block and 600 NA horsepower would be extremely well received and would fit perfectly.
It doesn't have to be a road course killer with 18" brakes that sticks to corners like glue! They already have done that plenty of times. Gives us a straight line brute deserving of the name Boss 429. I mean seriously, Dodge did it with the Demon and several other Challenger variants. You don't see Demons posting road course times everywhere (if they are I haven't heard or seen it). Do something different and give us a Boss straight line killer and leave the road course records for the GT350, GT500, Dark Horse and finally the GTD.
Unfortunately it's a pipe dream to think they will do something like that for once in this century!
The only thing a Dark Horse Boss is gonna decimate, kill or blow away is the name Boss.

Better yet, while we're dreaming on the bold, offer such a thing as a option/package that can be ordered on a lower-content trim level if desired (infotainment/radio delete!), so the ten of us that like and would order plain-Jane sleepers could order it versus some overblown, heavy ADM Queen bloated up with everything but the kitchen sink. It would have to handle competently though. I'd love a Godzilla powered street/strip brawler.

Agreed on the track rats. They're cool and all, but anything more than a PP level spec is overkill for me for a road car.

I've heard NA mentioned several times over the last few months on the new mystery car, but the 2 mules they keep driving around Detroit look to have larger coolers in the front. Are these just a facade for photo ops, a secondary iteration of what's to come with forced induction, or something completely different altogether?
