I own a 2021 gt pp1 convertible . Is the wiring there in the glove box? It was built early March 2021 ! Did 2020 mustang come with glove box light? Thanks for the help and advice in advance!!!
I'm about to do the same. Got the light at the dealer...ordered the connector to make a harness from an on-line source. (It's all in the garage....but a search on my name should get it for ya)
Mine is a '22 GT fastback, and I don;t think the wiring is there, going to use a fuse tap for a "key on" source...

The wiring is not there, you will have to add it. I just wired it to the power outlet in the center console. The power is on constant and will shut down with the BCM just like the original. The factory light just mounts right to where they should have put it in the first place and it works just like my '17 did.
You can track down the plug pigtail if you want to get really fancy but since I just wanted to get the thing in after finding no plug I trimmed the plastic and soldered right to the pins. Power and ground, no polarity concerns, it's just a bulb and a switch.
Yes, Ford sells a jumper wire...it's something like $70!! I bought the crimp connectors and plastic "plug" from a third party. I can look at it tomorrow as it's in the garage. But...If it cost me $5...that's all it was. I have wire in-house. The actual light/housing I got at the local dealer.
All the info on the parts to make the jumper are on these pages...just need to search. Or...I can look tomorrow in the garage.
You would think a vehicle that lists for $63,000.00 would include a glove box light. How stupid is that idea to delete one of the most used interior functions on the block. Way to go Ford.
Would a motion detection rechargable closet light be the easy option ? Not sure if you can get one small enough . Something about half the length of this closet light that I use would be ok
