I can confirm at 130mph, the stock gt hood looks like it's having a seizure on steroids, pretty scary.
Interesting... I get a little hood flutter cruising on the freeway but on pulls up to 150 my hood and car are surprisingly planted and stable.

A few years ago a gen6 Mustang ran 204 at the Houston Mile. Don’t remember much about the car. At launch could tell it had 3.?? gear. At the end of the mile the engine was screaming.

In clean air for the most part yes, but get behind someone at that speed and it looks like popcorn popping under it.

Been 180 n/a. Gearing and rpm limit will affect you the most. With 3.55 gear ratio you will be shifting into 5th before 180. I think you have the power to accelerate in 5th (n/a with 3.15 I don’t). So I think it’s possible to get 190-200, just depends how that 5th gear acceleration is.
Just curious: Was that a verified speed or based on your speedo? What mods do you have? I don’t think a 435 hp GT has enough power to truly go 180 mph; perhaps with a good tail wind, but doubtful. Also, do you have factory tire dia or smaller? Speedos are off on most cars, and if the tire dia is smaller than factory, even more so.

With my N/A MT82 w/ 3.73's it ran outta steam at 191 mph In 6th. I think that was 5600 or 5700 RPM.
Used WAZE ha-ha.

That makes sense. If I'm going that fast the other guy is always behind me.

Gps, my speedo only goes to 160. And it was with e85, fbo, cams.

Here is a Hennessy GT500 that topped out after hitting the rev limiter.

OEM speed limiters are based on the tire speed rating that comes on the car stock.
Also, brakes will limit the top speed since my eco premium has factory V rated tires on it but base single piston eco brakes at all 4 corners and it shuts down at 122 mph.

Thanks for posting this. Spencer was one of my instructors at the GT350 Track Attack
School in Charlotte. Unfortunately, the test drivers for Hennessey usually have to sign
a NDA, so we can't ask Spencer why he suddenly backed off at 204 mph.
Look at this Gear/Speed Chart. He couldn't have been in 5th gear, and with an alleged
1000 hp, there was a lot of speed left in 6th gear.

There were a number of S197 GT500's that went well beyond 200 mph at the TX Mile.
All it takes is a lot of Presidents.

Nice! I haven't had the balls to top out 5th lol
For a non-PP car, I was surprised how planted and stable it was.

My speedo stops at 180, I was thinking of flashing it to the GT500 so I can get to 220. With GPS the fastest I have gone is 203 then the nerves kicked in watching my hood bow.
