I don’t worry about my brakes nearly as much as I worry about the brakes of the person behind me.

'sticky' no. Grippy. Warm cup2 are tacky like fly-paper. Warm Potenzas just feel warm.

They are really good tires in temperate temps. Cold they flat-spot pretty bad so it takes a few minutes for the thumpa-thumpa to stop. I just pretend I'm Lecarc after a horrible lockup at Turn 1.

I consider the DWS06 better in cold (<45F) and a very close 2nd place behind the RE in warm, if you air them up a bit.
It was a warm evening (70F) so that put the RE980’s in their sweet spot. Had it been 40F I’m sure they would’ve protested mightily.

Brakes and tires are the first thing to upgrade.

Also, this thread made me think of one of the greatest movie scenes ever.

If my app is to be believed, that was a 1.48G brake event.
That's significant do you have the date in your car? In mine it's the horse symbol on the steering wheel and scroll....

We annihilated wolves and other "pests" without a second thought to ecological balance, but we let Bambi multiply out of control. What the hell is wrong with Department of Natural Resources et. al. Deer season should be Sep thru April. At least I could then harvest venison without freezing my extremities off.
Yes. Kill them all. No quarter, good luck hunters!

I have a personal vendetta against deer after one tried its best to kill me on one of my motorcycles in the fall of 2009. Despite full gear, I haven't been the same since.

Oh, definitely! Great brakes are worthless without great tires, and the RE980’s have been a delight.

I didn’t grow up around hunting so I never got interested, but 2M deer is just absurd. It’s actually unhealthy for the overall population to be that large, and we are definitely seeing those signs. At least this year DNR is allowing hunters to take one extra doe with whatever permit they have.

The 250,000 wild turkeys are no picnic either. Those assholes will fight their reflection in your car’s paint. The toms will just walk down the middle of the road like they own it. And you DO NOT want to hit one - they’re like a 25lb bowling ball and will wreck your stuff. Beautiful birds, but their numbers have become a major problem too.
First, glad you are okay, deer hits suck. I've been involved in many back when I lived in Wisconsin.

You can thank your states liberal wildlife management policies for that...Colorado is going to suffer the same fate. Just shy of $200 for me to buy a tag to come hunt in your state. Nevermind all the $$$ I'd spend on fuel, hotels, food, and entertainment, likely in small towns which are driven by that type of revenue.

Your same legislatures will import wolves to kill the deer, but will restrict the number of hunters that can come to your state. They will release the wolves in the north, not where the deer are, and certain folks will hail it as some huge "win". It's call ballot box biology, and it's 100% the opposite of how wildlife in America was supposed to be managed.

I will get off my soap box now. I am a hunter, and the amount of red tape, rules, regulations, and money I have to spend just to hunt, it rivals my track day budget LOL...

I salute you deer hunters, I don’t have the patience to sit in a blind all day covered in piss scent to mask my own hideous odors 🤭. I much prefer pheasant, quail, etc where I’m actually moving around a bit. My father in law used to deer hunt, he makes a great venison chili.

You are on the right hunting path, birds are a blast to hunt!

Just to be clear. I don't hunt deer. It sucks sitting in a blind all day. I go chase elk, which means I am moving the entire day, sleeping in a tent, on the side of a mountain. Every time I walk out of the woods after a week of no contact with others, I consider selling my car and focusing on hunting (And taking a shower and using indoor plumbing :cwl: ). There is literally nothing better for clearing you mind than living like the Neanderthals.

I just provided context because I pay attention to all the rules and regulations for hunting across multiple states, because one day, these rules (ie wolves) will affect the hunting I like to do, and what most of my family and friends still do in Michigan and Wisconsin.

Growing up, seeing a deer was like seeing hen's teeth. When I started hunting, the season was two 3 day seasons (gun season) and you could only take one buck. If you killed a buck of any size you were known as the great white hunter.
I started noticing an explosion of does, and a decrease in hunters and hunting space. Yet the limit stayed the same. Now, deer are as common as grey squirrels and the coyote population has exploded as well. The season is 2 weeks long and you can take a buck and 2 does.
Are things getting better? I don't know, deer are setting up house keeping in all the little wooded spots and parks in town.

I may go hunting this season. I haven't hunted in years, but I'll put on my hunter orange, open my bedroom window and shoot Mister Brown six or Mister Grey Eight, then wait for Mrs John and Mrs Doe. Yeah, it's that hard here.

I’ve heard elk hunting is a blast. I need to make time to do it at some point. Birds are a lot of fun, pheasant is probably my favorite. Ducks are fun too but again, you’re kinda sitting around in a blind waiting for them. I need to be moving, especially in the cooler months when a lot of these things are in season here.
