Discovered that somehow somebody or something broke my top door air vent. (Little chip on bottom left)

My ocd will not accept this.

50 dollars to replace. Might stop by a junkyard :-/

Just installed my fitcamx. Super clean setup with my radar detector.

first video fitcamx in action. Great quality. In this clip my radar detector saved me from a ticket I usually like to gun it getting into the freeway :like:

Installed a Steeda H pipe yesterday. They now have an option for upgraded clamps. This was the first time that i had the bottom rear plastic cover off. Plenty of gravel up in there. Was surprised at the rust directly above the exhaust tips. I daily drive this only when there is no salt on the roads. I treated the rust with ospho and the orange disapeared. Going to keep a close eye on this.

That’s your rear bumper bar, and fortunately it’s a replaceable item (not part of the shell).

I’ve mentioned them corroding before - but it didn’t generate much interest / comments 🤷‍♂️

Finally got around to bedding in new pads with the new 2-piece rotors. Since I autocross the car I went with HP+ pads from Hawk Performance. Not the best lighting in the garage, but they look so much better than the corroded stock rotors. Next up are new 4S tires to replace the original Cup 2 with 6K miles.

This whole vandalism bullshit is quite frustrating! No words! Hope those fucks get caught and make em pay tripple the size of the repair premium.

On another note - I made cold intake air cover version 2. I've used the thicker plexiglass and thinned the edge to fit better the rubber gasket. Here are some pics...

Thickness comparisson - almost twice the thickness.

Observations: the thicker cover is harder to take out, not difficult to install. However it seems thickness of glass does not do any much difference than the thinner one - Intake Air Temp same with both covers. Without cover the difference is about 2deg. Celsius higher.

The above makes me even more confident that the cold air sucks "mixed" air feom the front and the radiator warms the air up front.

I am planning on making a kind of snorkel to insulate the intake air and avoid hot and cold air mixing. So far the benefit is marginal. I am trying to figure out how to measure hood extraction without wind tunnel with the stock M1 hood.
AWESOME JOB!!!!!!!!!!! Love this, I am looking to do the same exact thing, but to protect filter from water and higher IAT's. I am going to install the shaker hood kit on my Mach, CDC states the hood insulation must be removed, So the water from hood vents is going to be an issue.
What size plexi did you go with?? and do you have a spare stencil???

Please let me know,
Thanks Anthony

Bought the automotive authority spare.

doing a 1000 mile road trip and I chickened out on "it'll be ok with no spare" mindset.

🤷🏻‍♂️
Going to be doing the same. Huge road trip. 2500 miles. But not until next year so I’ve got time to buy it. I wasn’t going to but I’ve been talked into it.

I got really hooked up on getting temperature under the hood lower and make the most out of the closed filter box, so instead of cutting the hood liner, i just removed it completely.
SO - the functional air vents on the mach 1 are BARELY functional. These things almost do nothing on extracting heat or reducing drag. I have no idea what Ford guys have been thinking, but the active hood vents are a marketing BS, rather than something working. The Dark Horse and GT350 hood extractors are placed exactly where they actually work, so I start considering getting the GT350 hood or something similar.

In the end - the closed air box does not make any sense if one keeps the stock hood. The benefit from the lid in reducing intake air temp is so minimal, it does not justify investing in something more expensive like the carbon fiber or the gt500 air box cover for 250 bucks.

Sorry for late reply, I've been busy during the week. I will be following your progress on the shaker hood, I was thinking about it for quite some time.
If you're looking into water protection of the filter, the thinnest plexiglass will be perfect, as it seems to be exact fit in the rubber gasket. The thinner one on the photo is 2mm (0.07 in). The thicker one is 5mm(0.19in) The effect on temperature reduction is identical between the two, so it does not really matter which one you'll pick.

On the stencil - I have an extra one, but shipping cost from Bulgaria to US won't make sense :D. I will try to make a pdf with the exact size and attach it, so one can print and cut.
