Yeah pp1 gauge isn't very accurate. It's a decent way to know you have some pressure but it was always 5-20 psi off compared to the mechanical gauge I had hooked up.



Thanks. I did try a new one when I filled it up last time after putting the oil pan back on.

I'm going to finish pulling the gears out tomorrow morning and look through everything. Work got crazy and I wasn't able to get back out to finish tearing it down yet. Hopefully I can get to the bottom of it and start putting it back together soon!
Check the clearances between the rotor lobes.

So you are getting an oil pressure light? Do you have a pressure reading when the light comes on? I don’t know how it works on the gen 3 coyote, but I always assumed oil pressure light only came on at 0 psi or very close to it. So if the light is coming on and you are reading just about any pressure at all when it happens, I’d be looking at the oil pressure switch circuit before worrying about anything else.

The gen 3 actually has a real sensor and not a switch. If the pressure drops below a threshold for the rpm and operation conditions it will throw the light

Is that for all gen 3? I thought cars with the PP gauges had the sensor and cars without just had a switch. I know on my 19 without PP gauges that my cluster doesn’t show any pressure, just “Normal”.

Yup getting the oil pressure warning light. Car has pressure just not enough. Gen 3s need 10-15 at idle and 30-40 at 2k rpms to be in spec. Verified it with a mech gauge and checked out the circuit prior to tearing it apart.

Yeah, they all have it because of the bypass solenoid. You can read the pressure value with a scan tool. If I had to guess, it's not visible on the cluster info section because they never bothered to update the programming of the cluster to show a value, just the translation of "normal" or "low". Or it's because they didn't want people to see the number and freak out when it's at like 12psi idle when the bypass is open lol

Roush told me the PP1 guage reads higher than reality. So people won't freak at 15psi at idle.

And at 3K rpm the value switches to 70+.

Interestingly enough the Mach1 stays well north of 60 (the gauge claims) the whole time until you drop to about 1500RPM. Somewhere over 2K and in the lower gears it stays pinned to 80psi.

I've wondered if it was possible to retrofit the M1 behavior to my '19 GT.

Mach 1 probably has different behavior because there's a real oil cooler lol

Exactly although I couldn't find any spec for when it should ramp up or how much pressure when you get on it but mine always went 90+ before. (According to the pp1 gauge) now it won't exceed 55psi.

Good update finally! I replaced the oil pump gears and the housing for the bypass and sensor. Going to assume it was the gears but I couldn't fund anyway to test the spring mechanism in the housing so I used a known good one to be safe. Just waiting for a new 4an line to show up today and I'll be back on the road!
