it just seems a bit alarmist, it would be out of the norm for a consumer device to have no way to disable updates. You’ll want them to only happen when the vehicle is in a safe place too.

Then FORD will send you a letter that your car will have to be serviced otherwise you risk this or that.

SO if you have a warranty claim that has ZERO to do with a tune, or a safety recall, yer SOL.

FORD has their bases covered with the S650.

BTW, the C8 vette computer hasn't really changed in years, so cracking it was pretty easy.

I think your assumption about it being EPA driven is correct. Some of it might be just all the tech in the car that needs updates/remote access so there needs to be some security to it. But specifically to the S650, it’s very likely to prevent emissions stuff being defeated.

The locked PCU is only new to Ford. GM has been locked for a while now(they've been cracked). It will become tuneable eventually as someone will crack it I believe.

By some guy in Finland or Ukraine. And it may cost $3K. And the car will be parked for a month. Just like a BMW or MKV Supra.

It USED to be the norm. Now, buried in your license agreement (that you must initial before letting you proceed to use it) is language that permits them to program a certain number of skips or times you can skip before it does the update on it's own.

Apple got smashed in the EU when they discovered they were INTENTIONALLY hobbling older phone models to frustrate people into buying newer ones.

Since then, I've tried to avoid running updates on any phone (I have an android for personal and an Iphone for work) and neither of them will let me skip updates indefinitely. Eventually I just wake up to discover the phone has updated on it's own (with auto updates disabled).

And I remember Sharad from Upr coming up to me. And he was just mind blown. he said if you were having that kind of trouble with your car as quick as it is with our suspension on it and it was a suspension issue. He said I guarantee you joe would have me on a plane at the track with you figuring out what was going on.

The fact that you had sent over $1 million and they just wrote you off is unbelievable

Well, as someone who was very successful in the car business for 14 years, you probably will agree with the statement. The people that you make the most money off of are the happiest and the people that nick and dime you for six hours to put a deal together are the ones who always call you complaining and upset and just never seem to go away.

A good deal is a state of mind. If you get something you’re happy with it. You enjoy it. You’re gonna be happy.

It’s the same thing in the Parts business though we go out of our way to take care of customers and especially group members. We take care of them we always always discount. We always help the guys out.

But you do get one every now and then I just had a guy yesterday ordering $69 wanting to know how much we could do on discounts. What kind of coupons how could he avoid paying the $12 shipping?

I had short messages from him on a $69 part.

I apologize and explained we’re making like three dollars and it was nothing we could do

I have no experience with the tuner in question. I do watch his show on YouTube. It is very entertaining.

Beefcake, Terry has called me several times personally to inform me about parts issues. Always upfront fair and has great prices. Goes out of his way to help his customers. I can't say that for some of his competitors.

Glad this swung back to what the OP wrote, I have watched so many of Alexes videos and learned a lot from them. And it is very entertaining to watch. I will not do business with them and a few others for a different reason. I reached out to them and two others that are the country's top recommended tuners. They all took a week or more to respond. They guy I went to is highly recommended and responds daily.

I have been in the public business for years, yes people are idiots. I have flat refused to do work for those folks a 2nd time or not helped when they didn't listen the to what I suggested after 20 calls and hours on the phone then come back and say "you were right, I should have listened" yea well shame on you now dumb ass. I wish I had the nerve to put it out in public lol. I do know a shop local that does, and again, very entertaining and no loss of business.
