Received my ring and pinion today. Some damage will it work

Ordered a 3.31 ring and pinion from American muscle it was a takeout of a demo car. They packaged poorly. Bottom of pinion has a small chip or 2. Is it toast or can I use them. There gonna refund 7 to 10 days after I ship it back, but I still wanna go from 3.73 to these. Can I clean these up or just go ahead and return them?

I would return them just because I'm fed up with AM's hit or miss packaging of late.

Would you use a chipped/cracked OPG ? There's yer answer.

It‘ll still work, but you should at least deburr that chipped tooth with a Dremel.

Sending it back would be the proper thing to do though. I went through the same thing with some damaged trsnsmission gears. The company I was working with replaced the damaged gears at their expense .

Small as the imperfection is, considering the expected service life of the part, I'd be concerned it is now a source of physical cracking and fatigue. Additionally, whatever tempering was accomplished to strengthen the metal has been compromised in that area.

The cost savings was 125.00 for a used but like new set undamaged from there demo car.
Bad packaging ruined the set. It's already been returned.

Return it. They should give you a new one at same price since they F’d it up. They’re really hit or miss lately. I returned 2 items to AM and only got refunded for one. Still going back and forth, has been weeks. Different company but..
I had something come from CSP racing with shipping damage and issue with build quality that wasn’t noticeable until installed. Neither of them or the manufacturer will accept responsibility without me paying to make it right. Pay with a credit card or another protected source so you can charge back if you have any issues past purchase and install. I still may charge back my almost 3k purchase because of this. Good luck with yours

I returned them. They said 7 to 10 days for refund. I'll keep on them about that. They gave me 10.00 store credit for my trouble. What a joke, I spent more then that in gas and tape wrapping it back up. I'm waiting for my refund before I leave then the review They deserve. They wouldn't work out a deal on a new ring and pinion for my troubles. I'll never use American muscle again.
