My 2019 Mustang GT with 40k miles won’t downshift into 5th without grinding horribly. Local Ford dealer said it’s under warranty and they will just put in a new MT-82. They do not repair. I would like to go ahead and replace the clutch while he’s in there and pay the installer some cash to do it.

I need recommendations for a clutch that will hold up to NA power levels.

I want smoothness and the ability to get into 3rd at high rpms. I’m Lund tuned on e85 and headers. Redline is 7800 rpms. I need a clutch that helps that high rpm 3rd gear shift.

Thanks.

You might as well put a good one in there if you can get the dealer to agree to install it. I put a Ram Pro Street Twin Disc Cerametallic clutch in my 2019 and if has been a great clutch. It felt different initially (on or off), but now that I’ve put a couple thousand miles on it, it feels great. No increase in pedal pressure either. Be sure and I stwll a new slave cylinder while you’re at it, so that you don’t have to go back in and do it later.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that high rpm shifts aren’t a problem at all. I’ve been down the drag strip numerous times on this clutch and it hasn’t missed a beat.

Lpx-hd would work. My 3rd gear lockout disappeared after I put one in. It holds 8k shifts at 700hp all day long but still drives like stock around town.

Who makes the Lpx-hd?
Also, is the McLeod RST any good? Alex Flores mentioned it in an older video saying it worked well for the MT-82.
Thanks.

Lpxhd is made by McLeod but sold as a lethal performance clutch. It's kinda a mid range between the rst and rxt imo. The rst would probably be a fine choice if you dont track the car.

I've had the RST for about 2.5 months now. High RPM shifting is significantly improved as in I haven't had any lockout since installation. I did change the clutch line to stainless while I was there. Pedal feel is very similar to stock. My only gripe is I get some clutch chatter between 1250-1500 RPM.
