It’s actually no joke. I go to the San Clemente cars and coffee often which is a huge gathering. I see 19-year-olds getting out of McLarens and Ferraris all the time. I don’t know where the money comes from.
Yeah…I see this often too. I don’t know either… and I am middle Cali. Its insane.

I would take the GT350 over the Supra. I test drove a Supra when I bought my 2020 Camry. I have always wanted a Mustang since I was 5 years old and sat in a 67 GT500. Now I have a GT 5.0 with a six speed manual. I understand not racing on the street and agree with it. I'm 61. However, and I hate to admit this, I like running down the the Texas highways and letting the horse lose a little.
Lots of F-150 4X4s pull up beside me and want to run. I cannot refuse to show them their F-150 is not a Mustang when it comes to handling. Not to mention the governor is more of factor.
I have had many a F-150 driver pull up at the local convenience and asked, "I got a tune." "i don't understand." I don't raise my hood.

I wanted a Mustang a 19. I could not get a co-signer nor had the down payment. If I would have had what I have now back then? I would be dead. Like I said to someone else, get with someone that knows what they are doing and let them teach you on a track. If that is not available, then an empty parking lot maybe. Road course track would be better probably. Tickets are not fun and it takes a long time to get them off your record. I know from experience. The main thing is, learn to drive right, don't kill yourself or anyone else. I Never raced on local streets.
Which car is fastest, GT350 or Supra? Both will kill you if you are stupid and don't use Common Sense. Your 19. You are too young to be crippled up.

Street cred? You get street cred by not being stupid and respecting the car you drive. You can drive a Beetle and have street cred. It's how you carry yourself. How you interact with the people around you. How you drive your car. You can have the coolest car in town, but if you treat people like shit, you get it back in return. Just have to be honest man. Car doesn't always "make" the man. the man "makes" the car. Look at Steve McQueen in Bullitt. Look at the Mustang he drove. Not a GT500. Just a dark green Mustang with a dented driver's fender. I love that car. McQueen made the car not the other way around.
Stay safe and be proud of what you drive no matter what it is. Be proud of yourself, don't do nothing stupid and be proud of what you drive. Once you do that, you will thank yourself. Peace out.

Even though I'm a Mach 1 owner and many GT350 owners look down on us, I would take the GT350 all effing day. This should not even be a debate. But I'm older and have many family members who spent their lives trying to do good for their families by working in the Pittsburgh steel mills. That's as PC as I can get about saying please buy American.

Kurt Russell in Death Proof wore Icy Hot patch. I have the Grindhouse box set. I wonder if that patch is also reference to this group you guys are talking about IcY Hot?

I don't look down on anyone for what they drive. It's how they treat me. Car and money does not matter. I have been look down for being poor, I have been looked down on for the job I was doing, and the old 1966 Galaxie 500 I was driving when I was 18. Car does not make the man. The man makes the car. All Mustangs have their place. I celebrate with all Muscle Car owners. We are a dying breed of men and some women. Finally got a V8 back and it just happens to be in the Mustang GT.

I fell in love with Mustang at Dub Shaw Ford in Fort Worth Texas 1967. Lime Green GT500 with standard. I sat in 66 or 67 GTO. Metallic Gold with four speed and 389 tri-power. Loved that car too. LOL 60 model Corvettes. I love 1963 Split window standard, of course. But muscle was out of my reach. Either no co-signer no down payment. Now I got one. I was taught not to look down on people. My father's family were sharecroppers and my mother's family, her parents work as ranch hands. There was 13 kids in my father's family and 7 in mother's. Father's family were car guys. Chrome, horsepower and standards. My mother's family? Practical people. LOL If it drove great! If it didn't? Either make it go or find something else. Pick up people and horse people are my mother's family. Gas mileage, saving money. Those kinds of people. My dad like his cars fancy. Chrome and more chrome. Coming from nothing, I can understand and I embraced his side of the family more than mother's.

I have never been jail for ANYTHING. I always worked for what I got until I retired in 2018. It's great you have a cool car. You, me and the rest of us are lucky. I was driving a 2020 Camry XSE and was proud. We could be poor and have nothing to drive. I took care of my cars and was even proud of my 1986 Plymouth Horizon. I had something to drive. I did not have to walk. Same with my 78 Luv pickup. I was free and driving. That's all that mattered. Mach 1 is a badass car. Congrarts on having one the most iconic cars ever created. I cannot afford one. But I do have an awesome 2023 Mustang GT 5.0 so I'm right there with you!

Of all the cars I have sat in and some I have test drove, the c8 Corvette does not move me very much. I had a 1985 Fiero for a short time. I could never get the coolant to run right. I sat in the Corvette C8 and it took me back to that Fiero. I could not help but think, "This is nothing but a Fiero with a V8!" I just cannot bring myself to like the car enough if I had the money. It's a cool car, but I drove the Fiero and that is that. Sure, it's got a V8 but it does not "do it" for me.

Back to the discussion about Supra or GT350, all you have to do to understand the target audiences for the two cars is look at the vehicle weights, horsepower and the out-the-factory-door tires.

Supra - 3380 (MT)/ 3179 (AT) pounds, 382 HP, 255F/275R tires

GT350 - 3781 pounds, 526 HP, 295F/305R tires

I still think the one with 40mm wider fronts and 30mm wider rears and 144 extra HP is going to be the faster car.

Corrected... thanks @Inthehighdesert !

Sure it ws a typo.

526hp in the 5.2

Supra - 3770 pounds, 382 HP, 255F/275R tires (eerily similar to the S550 Mustang GT PP)

GT350 - 3781 pounds, 426 HP, 295F/305R tires

Which one d'ya think will hold the road better and go faster? I'd put my money on the one with 40mm wider fronts and 30mm wider rears and 44 extra HP.

Yup. And the Supra's a hundred HP lower than the GTPP. I guess the question is, why did Toyota/BMW bother? A GTPP, Mach1, Bullitt, etc are all going to be faster and likely handle nearly as well on a Ford budget.

That is such a classic picture. And yet, in many ways hasn't changed.

To the question:

I disagree with some people. YOU CAN pick your car based on what others think if you want. People pick things in life for whatever reason. Be it color, brand, perception, speed, Hair color, legs, glasses, missing teeth, how tall short skinny or fat somebody is. You get the point, to some degree it's all shallow. But that's ok.

Both cars are sexy in their own way, both a fun to drive.

I wouldn't buy a Supra though. I never want anyone to confuse me for a ricer, or somebody who might become a ricer.

With a Supra you'll eventually want an exshuast. And to me they all sound like rice shit.

You seem to be the one fixated on GT350's based on your posting history. I can't think of a single GT350 owner I know who has anything negative to say about the Mach 1. It's always been an end of run parts bin car, but that's only because they took some of the best parts available and combined them into one car. That's a good thing not a bad thing. I'm jealous of the rev match feature from the factory and the only real downside to the Mach 1 compared to the GT350 is a little less power and the smaller factory brakes. Neither of which are that big of an issue or unfixable.

I AM fixated on GT350's. If I could afford to have one in addition to the Mach, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

The supra is really making close to 400 wheel at this point, it's pretty underrated since BMW likes to be sneaky and rate for worst conditions. 350 is still faster but not by a massive margin. Wider tires aren't always better either, it's not a default advantage. Wider tires help with heavier cars, so if you have less weight you don't need as much tire. I dunno where you found the Supra weighs 3770lbs, because everywhere I've seen puts it under 3,300.

I'd still pick the 350 but the Supra isn't a slouch.
