This is the last of the golden age of gasoline cars. How awesome is it that all the manufacturers are taking it to the limit. Ten years from now you'll be able to buy faster cars but likely electric. Maybe even an electric GT350, Ford is already working on electric cars based on the Mustang platform.

Enjoy your GT350 for what it is, not the fastest or best handling but most balanced, best looking, fun to drive kick in the pants you can buy for the money.

Edit - Left out best sounding
Exactly. On the tracks tested so far by pros in stock format (there are about 8 of them), the Supra is a couple seconds behind the M2 and M4.

Whats funny guys is the Subra actually beat the new BMW Z4 M340i which the car is based on. Toyota did their homework.

In the Fastest Laps database for the Supra. While having same day testing is preferable, when have multiple situations where a car ranks behind another, it's fairly conclusive. Looking at each track you can see the M2 and/or M4 a couple secs faster. Also makes sense considering power/weight is a pretty good indicator of a car's performance and Supra would be ranked below these two as well.

Well, no surprise the Lightning Lap came out and the Supra is really far behind the GT350R and GTPP2 and also a couple seconds behind the M2 and M4. As mentioned before, when comes to track prowess the Supra is fast but nowhere near the GT350.

Laps on the same day and the same driver, only real test. At the real RA :cwl: (Road America) I have run in the high 2:20s and on another day, cant break much better than 2:32. To many variable to compare on different days and different drivers

Of course same lap same driver is best, I know I track all the time. However, my point was that there were already a few tests that established the rank order of the Supra, M2, M3/M4, GT350/R, and PP2 so even before the VIR results came out, it was fairly certain that the times of the 350/R would be considerably faster. Actually not only did that happen, but look the rank order of all those cars was exactly the same as the other tests I mentioned previously. Also the 350R and PP2 being 8+ seconds faster than the Supra and they test over several days with several drivers around the same time of year can give you some confidence of the rank order.

Initially some people in this thread posted some lap time of a gutted Supra with a really fast time and I alleged that based on the existing lap times in a few other tests, the Supra was just below the M2 and M3 and based on the power/weight of all of those cars, in theory the Supra should be the slowest. Low and behold, the VIR results come out and the exact same rank order is established. Bottom line, the GT350/R is in a different league vs the Supra.

Saw a Supra in person first time today. My opinion is if you don’t like it in pictures then u won’t like it in person. Best view IMO is front 1/4. The ugliest is the last pic where the front fender/hood looks like a big marshmallow hanging over the front wheel

It's astounding how much worse it got in production, aesthetically. FT-1 was a looker.

Maybe after a few shots of JD I can take a second look at it and it’ll be as hot as that pic

Imagine the emotions of the poor people who designed the concept upon seeing how the legalized certified productionfied version turned out.
