All types of stuff happened today. Changed the oil (Now all the fluids are brand new and all are Red Line Oil), got another test badge printed, talked to a CNC shop today too, and discovered oil stains on my wheel so I washed and polished them out.

I asked my race mechanic friend about the random oil spots on the wheel (it was only on the rears) and he mentioned that there is a vent that siphons gear oil under hard cornering. This must’ve been from my last track day and I haven’t washed the wheels since (not a good idea with track pads).

Learn something new everyday.

Also removed the oil from my catch can.

Can you tell me what size you are making your test badge. It is looking very professional by the way.

Thank you sir. The 3 D printed one is 6”L x 1.35”H. It can really be any dimension though because 3D print.

I also have some metal samples coming in as well as a CNC’ed aluminum part that’s gonna get cut next week.

I suspect all 3 options will look good because I have a gnarly case of OCD but the point is to test all 3 in a range of different parameters to get the best product.

One thing about size is that the bigger you go, the less it fits aesthetically on the s550.1 decklid.

A special thank you to fellow member @DonnieO for his help in this endeavour

Thanks for that Todd. I like the idea of getting a new blank decklid and having something different to the faux GT gas cap that we got in Australia. I did think that the 7" version available on Etsy might be a bit too large for the deck lid though. If you are going to make some for sale I would be very interested. Have you printed with various RAL colours on other jobs.

Hey, no worries. I am familiar with RAL color system through my work (designer). I have a color poster in my office however the challenge is matching it to your car.

Orange Fury is unique as the base coat, tint, and metallic content delivers a color with depth. I’ve read that paint shops have a hard time getting it right. I would probably go to a ford shop and get the color from them.

I would actually go the same as a lot of other bits and pieces on my car and that is RAL 1015 which is a light cream/ivory colour over a black background.

- Did you measure the volume of liquid in your oil separator?
- How many miles since the oil separator was serviced?

This doesn't sound good on a racetrac, does tech inspection look for this? Or maybe I'm misunderstanding, where does the vent siphon oil to?

I don’t think tech knows about this. Hell after 7 years of ownership I just found out.

Right rear wheel well is the location of the rear diff breather vent. It’s directly in front of the shock behind the fender liner.

In my case it dripped a couple drops but as the wheels spin it just gets everywhere and it collects all the brake dust. That’s why I polished out the barrels of my wheel.

I you have black wheels like so many people do nowadays you’ll never know.

I didn’t and not too sure. There about 2 track days and 1 mountain run lol. I don’t drive the pony much. It’s mainly a dedicated track car
