Gas guzzler tax I am betting. Adding another 1-2 grand on top of a GT and it’s getting ridiculous
The thing is, I'd much rather pay another 1-2 grand for a car that's a lot more fun to drive. If Ford had left the transmission gearing alone, they might have sold me a new Mach 1 instead of me ending up going to a used car. Anyway, I realize Ford sells every Mustang they make with no problems so they probably don't care what I think.

Something seems off there. The Mach and gt have different ratios, but 50 sounds fast for either in first, and 1st/2nd not that different tremec vs getrag. especially with 3.73 like what I drove. My existing ride goes maybe 50 -60 in 2nd with 3.31 dif. First should lite them right up from idle, even on a hot day with good tires. 2nd….sometimes, especially cooler weather. On a closed course, obviously.

This is for the handling-pack car/tire, Ford says the top speed is 168mph, the one track I’ve been to where I was able to top out 5th (Daytona) shifting into 6th didn’t gain me any speed 🤷‍♂️, maybe too much drag from the HP lip and gurney flap with the windows down.

Its more invasive than you can actually see. When you see WOT logs from cars with TC on, you can still see tq control/tq management coming on even when the car has full traction. Might not be good ole traction control, but its a different type that you cant turn off. But yes normal TC off helps a bunch.
This is 100% true. I turn off tc on wot pulls but advance trac is still on. Occasionally the car will fall on its face and timing will be cut in half. Log doesn't show TC being the cause but it definitely is something related. Good info.

It's all OEM tuning. I agree, for real world street driving they feel sluggish. They completely lack any punch at 3k. Get a good tune and maybe some headers and the car will be transformed.

Headers do nothing. But a tuner can mod the tq table and also let it rev freeer.

61 years old and have drove a lot of different cars. Here is my experience with my 2023 GT 5.0. When I test drove my car, I bought it used with 1965 miles, I drove the salesman to the gas station. He filled it up with Regular Unleaded gas. Cheap gas station at that. I burned that gas out immediately after buying the car and put Shell Super Unleaded 93 octane in it. It did make a difference. Dealerships do not put expensive gas in any car. They run the cheapest gas they can find. Owners manual recommends 93 for a reason. I actually got into an argument with the salesman. I told him the manual recommends 93. Gas grade makes a difference. Mach 1 needs 93. Dealership salesman don't care. Maybe the car did not have the right gas. That said, computer has to compensate for that.

A custom tune and removing the nanny plug took away that low RPM bog on my '22. The only drawback from removing the plug is the accelerometer on Track Apps doesn't work.

ok, once again - because it's not "OEM tuning" or "traction control" or some other nonsense.

15-17 Performance Pack has top 2nd gear speed of 58ish mph.
18+ Performance Pack has top 2nd hear speed of 75ish mph with basically same torque / power.

Both (obviously) with same 3.73 rear end and same stock tall rear tire 275/40R19 ( <- That also affects gearing).

This is 2nd gear transmission ratio I mentioned before (18+ being much taller) and this is why car feels sluggish. Easiest way to see the change is put shorter tire and drive it again - requires basically no mechanical mods. 315/30R18 which has almost 2" smaller diameter than stock 275/40R19 makes it very obvious.

Alternatively, maybe just wind it up a little?

I don’t hear much whining coming out of the GT350 sub-forum.

Well, human nature dictates that everyone relates primarily to his own experience, obviously including me. And while I completely understand and accept the video “Manual Gets Worse” Hack put up a couple posts back, these days I consider that hyper-technical stuff a cure for insomnia. Yeah, clearly I’m old but I just wanna get in my car and roll out in a Mustang that looks good, sounds better and feels strong as a yard of garlic when I hit the loud pedal. And my ‘23 M6 Mach 1 checks all those boxes and then some. I have an awful lot of hi-po car experience over the last 55-60 years to gauge the Mach by and never once have I found it lacking. For me it’s a tremendous driving experience in every respect.

Having said that, I’m a guy who in 1969 came out of a big block Corvette into a new Z-28 (rockin‘ 4.11s) and loved it just as much as the ‘Vette. So there’s that I guess.

I'm no expert in these things but if you believe the guy in this video the change in gearing was probably done to lower the 0-60 time by eliminating having to shift before you get to 60mph. Marketing departments come up with the stupidest ideas.

It was most likely to beat the gas guzzler tax. Any reduction in 0 to 60 was an unintended benefit.

I have an auto and if I use factory shift points the car feels like an underpowered turd but gets 18 MPG in town. If I set the shift points to make the car drive properly this drops to 12 - 13 range.
