Fun fact: the Corvette was the chassis used for Michael Keaton’s Batmobile (1989). It was actually a C3 chassis though, not a C4. It was at the Corvette Museum when we were there this summer

Makes sense to me. The C3 frame was much stronger.

And C3 aerodynamics were absolute @$$ so they didn't sacrifice anything with the Batmobile body. 😄

Just got off the phone with the Chevy dealer. Looking at an order, $1000 deposit, pickup at the factory. I have to decide on options. I know magnetic shocks $1900 and performance exhaust $1200 are a must. May spring for yellow paint $500 and perhaps the racing graphics package. I do not like the dull finish on the hood stripe. Same as the Mach, lol. $75,080.
Just decided a few more must have options, 2LT vs 1LT, most important add ons, heat/cool/memory seats, navigation, heads up display, front cam, data/video recorder, side/rear traffic alert, +$7,100. Also the body color exterior trims, kills the transformer look for me. Other odds and ends, STICKER SHOCK. $84,120. Paid $56,000 for the Mach. Harder to justify the change.

The 2LT does open up more options that’s for sure. My brother in law has a 3LT which has the same 14 speaker Bose system as the 2LT. It sounds fantastic, so that’s a nice upgrade there.

I’m flipping coins. Supercharger on the mach1 or a new C8. I do like the car so I’m leaning toward the blower but the c8 is on my mind.
Go rent one for 3 days and drive it like you own it. 40 minutes in the captains chair was enough for me to decide, hard pass.

I’m not surprised. I’ve heard of some dealers having someone order the car then almost immediately trade it back in so the dealer can sell it used for big mark ups. Looks like GM is trying to stop that (and others from quick flipping these cars). Not sure I necessarily agree with it, let the market be what it will be. But, I can also understand that GM wants these cars with owners that truly want them and not just make a quick buck.

Im not sure I’d want one without a warranty, have heard of some people having issues. That LT6 and DCT are big $$ if you don’t have a warranty to backstop you.
This isn't Big Brother stepping in. This is GM, a private enterprise, saying fuck you to all the flippers and stealerships that are leaving many customers sour on the brand and the buying experience. GM is very much a part of the natural market forces for their own cars, and should be free to try to limit shady dealings with their own products.

... Granted I would prefer they just increased the production volume for the car, but that's probably easier said than done right now.

Weird, kind of like what Ford should do. It's cost them two sales from me in the last two years.

The shady dealer tactics I mentioned above I don’t condone and don’t blame GM stepping in since the dealers represent the brand.

ADM on new cars is not a new concept either. Nobody likes it but people are willing to pay it to get what they want when they want it. MSRP is just that, suggested. When huge discounts to sticker are offered do people complain? So it cuts both ways. Go out and get the best deal you can.

A person flipping the car to make a quick buck is no different that a house flipper IMO. If the market is there, someone will pay it. If not, they won’t. Sometimes the seller makes a good profit, sometimes they’re left holding the bag.

I’ll pose another question too. Say someone buys the Z06 with full intentions of keeping the car, but in say month 3 a major unexpected life event occurs and they have to get rid of the car. Should they take less than what the market will bear because GM says they should? Also, should the buyer lose their warranty because the seller had a legit reason to sell the car? It’s a slippery slope and possibly a reason Ford stayed out of it with the Shelby’s.

What didn’t you like about it Matt? For me, I felt squished even though I’m not a huge guy (6’1” 210ish). It doesn’t sound as good as the C7 either, IMO. Overall though it’s a really good car.

Fighting the damn shift logic which wanted to drop the RPMs to 1500 at the slightest opportunity. It felt remote and numb - no feedback from the front if it would hold in a curve. It does and does very well, but I exercise my Faith in church, not while in the driver's seat.

It's VERY low and the ergos were just weird. My Camaro felt good by comparo. And final straw was no shifter stick. I'm sorry you can't pay me to accept a computer shifted car. I don't give a damn if it says Lambo, Porsche, or gm. 3 pedals or get the heck out.

Hendricks Chevrolet in Cary NC will do MSRP too.
In touch with Trevor in Cary. Very easy to deal with. Looking at Factory pick up or flying to Cary. Trevor said courtesy delivery is not possible, something about dealer allocations? He claims they sell over 120 vettes a year. Top 10/12 in the nation.

I have also seen the treatment new Vette owners receive at the museum, it's a cool experience. @kellyreno, the $995 is a drop in the bucket compared to the track events you have attended in a year. If you are bored with the M1 and the Vette scratches the itch, do it man.
Good luck either way!!
Went up +50% this year
$1500. Still might do it and take a couple laps at the track.

I would vote for the museum pick up if you’re taking a vote LOL. Such a cool experience!

If you pick it up at the factory, I suggest taking 31 W most the way to Nashville. It's a nice scenic ride, and I 65 sucks when you get to Tennessee.
A few laps at the track will get you ready for I 40 through the Smokeys.

Trevor is a straight shooter with "NO BS" and I was really close to putting down a deposit too but decided to wait it out. I bought my first C7 and would buy another from him in a heartbeat. I always try to send folks to help him when I can. Tell him Bullittman sent you!

I can remember before covid there was a sea of corvettes on their lot. Man, how times have changed.

What about cylinder deactivation? Any way to de=program that. Like Forescan?
