I just got rid of my archetype for a ford performance one. I dont see this one being an option but i know HB already has the wheels turning

If I wasn't already chassis mounting a wing, this is something I would be also be pursuing. It's important to use data-driven designs and designs proven to work (think AJ Hartman, APR/FP, 9LivesRacing, Klaus/BimmerWorld) which is why I appreciate this question being asked. Reproducing this wing accurately would require someone to 3D scan it. The difficult part is just going to be finding someone willing to loan the car for a few hours.

That being said, I may know a gentleman willing to do that when he gets his car. I'll keep you posted.

No one makes better aero than AJ. This is him standing on his carbon fiber wing with his in house cf made trunk. That just shows you how good his stuff is. I dare anyone like archetype, and anderson to try that with their product.

Boy, that's what confidence looks like.

I would bet 100$ that my wing would hold up to this test, but I won't bet the full price of the wing :p. For one, I copied AJ's mounting scheme.

Active aero takes some real work. There's a guy running active aero on a GT500 wing which I've seen in person. A lot of the active system is out in the airflow on the wing uprights, but pretty bad ass to pull that off.

What you guys aren't seeing on the GTD is all the fun stuff they're doing with the aero under the car, in the wheel wells, under the front splitter, through the radiator, etc. The wing is just the most obvious part.

Mine on the right, buddy's car on the left

I actually really appreciate the GT3/GtD cars. If I had the resources and time, I could definitely see having a dedicated car with some of these features including the wing.

The GTD is the only s650 I actually like.

. I'm guessing that the Ford and Multimatic engineers have worked out the aero.
The mounted it to the B-pillars.. one of the strongest areas of the car, so it's producing enough downforce to crush the trunk lid.

To each their own, but I personally have never liked giant wings that looked like they were just tacked onto the back of a car as an afterthought. Function aside, I think the wing on the GTD looks hideous. I prefer a rear wing or spoiler to look integrated into body lines. That's just me though, I don't really care what anyone does with their cars. I know what I like for mine.

I honestly don't think the narrow body of our cars has enough flare to carry the look of that wing well, if you were going for pure aesthetics only.

Track car who cares what it looks like, long as if functions as it should.

downforce... but also air braking. Most wings push down, but an active aero wing will pivot into the airstream under braking and cause a ton of drag.

Also, for a swan neck design like this, you want a good amount of lateral stabiilty (another reason not to mount it to the decklid).

Either way, for a serious racecar like this you want a good solid chassis mount. The 911 GT3 RS is doing like 170+ on the Nurburgring. Try sticking your hand out the window at 170

Would you consider putting one on The Mule? @honeybadger would you put this wing on your Shelby build? This wing would really be geared towards you guys and others that have dedicated track cars and are really looking to get the best times possible. And how much downforce will you need in the front to balance it out so you don’t take off like a rocket ship on track?
Let's just say @fordfanboi (Intelliaero) and I have been talking and taking some measurements

Here's a shocker. I ordered my 2024 Gt with Spoiler Delete. If I wanted that crap I'd buy a Honda.
:)

Well you aint gonna be settin' any sub 7 minute Nurburgring lap times without a wing, so you're not talking GTD level performance any more. You're back to daily drivers. Honda would be happy to sell you a mini van w/o a wing on it.

but an active aero wing
Good thing Ford isn't going professional racing with it, as active aero is largely banned from most forms of racing.

Dragracers:
No. More. Chute.
Lol.

I've drag raced more than most people have lived, won more awards and trophys that I can remember, 32 at last count and gave them all away. I don't need a wing to state how bad I am. I know inside what I have accomplished it's just time to enjoy my car.
