Guys, the GT350 is a 2016 model. News websites say that. Even the leaked order guide says that. If you read the leaked order guide, it says it has Sync3 as an option. Sync3 is only coming to Ford vehicles for the 2016 model year, according to Ford.

So it's a 2016.

For me...I do not want a 2015 eight months into the year 2015 !!!! But that's just me...I buy at least one new car every year and I got my 2015 Jeep in Sept. 2014 so I can enjoy it being new ALL year. I know this sounds crazy but that what make the world go round, "different strokes for different folks" But this is all a mute point, there is going to no 2015 GT350, it maybe delivered in 2015 (Im hoping) but it will be a 2016 title...I am a willing to wager !!..lol
I'm sure you are correct. :)

I wouldn't take that bet.

GT350 is definitely a 2016-17 model run per the contract we signed with Ford. Our Ford rep told us that production of GT350's does not start until the 4th quarter of this year - way behind the rest of the 2016 Mustangs. Deliveries of GT350's won't begin until after the first of the year (maybe December if all the stars line up).

At this point in time, there is only a two year run of GT350's planned for sure, but that's how the GT500 contracts read back in 2006, as well, and that ended up being stretched into eight model years (2007-14).

All signs point to a limited run for 2015. I mean the order guide states 2015 and for those that saw the Barrett Jackson auction for the 350R, Mark Fields came out and announced it as the "2015 Shelby GT350R". I can guarantee that a CEO of a billion dollar company doesn't make mistakes such as that in front of a huge audience. Also, I highly doubt they would make a huge typo on the order guide.

And obviously Ford is keeping this close to the chest, and that's why the people whom work for dealers on this forum only know what Ford tells them.

That what I like to see, solid info from a reliable source! I'm good with a later release. More time to save. :clap2:

There was also an article that 'confirmed' there would be 1000 2014.5 models to be produced.

That would have made more sense for the 50th Anniversary model to have been introduced as a 2014.5 MY. If my memory serves me correctly, the 1964.5 models had 6 volt electrical systems and a 260 V8 vs. the 1965 MY's 12 volt system and 289 V8.

Honestly, what does it matter what they call the car?
They could call mine a 1915 or a 3015 Mustang and it wouldn't matter to me.

You never hear something like "It's a Model 2016" when you talk about cars in Europe. When you describe a car over here, you'll just tell them the month/year it has been built, the km it has run so far and what's under the hood and inside. Especially when you sell it.

I don't really get why Americans do it all the time. Is it about bragging rights or something?

None of that is correct. http://www.mustangspecs.com/years/64-65.shtml

And I don't agree on an anniversary 2014.5 model as the original Mustang was advertised as a 1965 model.

Nope, nothing to do with bragging rights or being American. The Mustang is historically an early model year vehicle. Most cars go on sale late in the year as a new model. The Mustang originally went on sale very early in the year(April 1964, some years actually as early as February(2010 as 2011 models)).

Tommy....Its easy to generalize "Americans, Europeans etc.. But in fact I am sure it is the same over there as it is here. (I use to live in London) And people (in general) do care what year it is. Normally the later the year, the more bugs that have been worked out, and more options etc..

If that's true let Ford work out all the bugs on the "limited" run of 2015's and I'll wait for a full production 2016! By the time the 2015's are being delivered you'll be able to order a 2016. Not sure who among us would sign up for that but to each his/her own!

I don't think it's about what they call the car. I think it has to do with IF there is a 2015 model it will be a very limited edition car. 2016 will be the model for the masses. The conversation here is is there going to be a small limited run before the mass production or not and not so much model year names. The model year designation just makes it easier to differentiate between the two potential runs.

Sure that's correct, but this should go with the production date of the car as well. A car produced one year after the first one left the factory should automatically have less bugs no matter if they call it 2015 or 2016.
