It's pretty bad when you can buy 2 or 3 of AMG's new GT for the price of a "Mustang".
Granted the "Mustang" is a good bit closer to 'racecar'.

Gotta be honest, and this is my opinion so not something someone needs to convince me otherwise on LOL, Ford kind of strayed off the beaten path. They are trying to be all things to all people all of the time.

The GRD comes across as a JDM aesthetic vehicle with a Ford Powerplant and an Italian price tag. Lots of cool tech sure but I'm not looking to buy a stretched 370Z. At the end of the day there are like 30 other cars that I would be looking at if I was in the realm of being able to afford a $300,000.00 car.

I believe it will happen. There's a dude around my parts that has a 2005 V6 Mustang with a Super Snake body kit and wheels on it.

I’m really surprised how many people don’t understand this car or what Ford’s doing. They are clearly making the mustang a brand, hence the wide range of cars including an EV. The GTD isn’t meant to be an everyman car in any way, it’s a supercar wearing a mustang badge which I think is really cool. No less than four dedicated race cars and a terrific street/track car in the Darkhorse. Ford is being run by car people and they’re all in on mustang. We should all be happy for that.

No, Ford is being run by out of touch millionaire marketing douch nozzles, who deserve to be shot for perverting a car into a brand.

Fix the gd paint, the shitty ass A10 trans programming, the sad excuse of magride, and the marshmallow bushings at every critical location.

When you can't get even basics right, it's not time to hob nob with the Richy rich.

This thing is running an up-tuned version of the Predator 5.2L Supercharged engine and its $300K? Wow. Ford is nuts.
A car it's not only a engine.

What a beast! Ford want fight face to face with the best European performance cars, expensive???? Less than a GT3 RS or AMG Black series.

Yes,I have a gt and have had 7 of em and a 500. But if anyone would pay 300k for a ford product they're ludicrous. Way better made products out there at that price point
It's not expensive for a race car with plates, Ford build this car thinking in Europe, they want performance on track, and cars who make under 7 on Nurburing track.

Last month a friend on Nurburing with a GT3.

They didn't even design the car from scratch to be Mid Engine, and they come out patting themselves on the back making a big deal out of a patch job from the S550 2.0 , 100% afterthought with the Mid Engine, media hype to sell the cars to some fools that's going to pay $300,000+... get real ,you will never catch Porsche who's been doing this for over 50 years with the mid engine. The Porsche is probably a thousand pounds lighter right off the getgo as we speak, But hey.. don't miss out on all the hype.. most likely nobody on this thread will be buying one anyway..
There's pretty much nothing correct in this post.

1. Yes, it was designed from "scratch" to be mid-engined, that was the point to the rear transaxle. It wasn't an after-thought at all, it's basic physics.

2. Since 1963, Porsche (911 based, GT3) race cars have been REAR engine, save for the 911 991 RST, where Porsche snuck the engine forward so it would be mid-engine, and pissed off a lot of Porsche owners and fans in the process.

They pissed so many people off, that they switched back to a rear-engine layout with the new 911 GT3 R (992).

I'd get all ass-chapped about the sudden Eco hate, but it's kinda true, so, fair-play. There are equally flattering Shelby stereotypes, I guess.

Mid-engine just means that the engine is contained within the wheelbase of the car. It may be ahead or behind the driver.

Exactly how did Porsche put together a 991 with a mid-engine? The only mid-engine Porsche 911-ish thing that I'm aware of is the 991 RS that raced in WEC and IMSA in GT-E and GTLM trim 2015-2021. These were nothing like the street car. Everything else that I'm aware of in the 911 family is rear engine. I can't even understand how a 991 chassis could hold an engine mid-ship. There's no room.

The Boxster and Cayman are the mid-engine Porsches and they're better handling cars than the 911 derivatives. Porsche are stuck on the 911 being the top dog in their line-up, though, so they always put the biggest engines in the latest 911. It's called 'motor-racing' for a reason...
