Hi,
My 2022 GT has the annoying whine. I just bought it and it’s driving me crazy. It seems to do it more under 30 mph. Is this how it’s going to be? It’s almost an embarrassing sound. Is it really normal?
Yes it is.

Mine has it too. Along with the bbq tick and 2000k rpm rattle. Everyone says it’s all normal. It’s been back to the dealer a few times, and I’ve done the research, but ultimately, I’ve learned to “just deal” with it. Knowing all the R&D that goes into it and after paying almost $50k for this car, I expect better. My previous Subaru and GMC truck had those engine/tranny nuances too.

Anyone use Lucas Ford in Burlington, NJ for service? I have the whine but trans shifts perfectly. I want to check the level just to see if it’s low on fluid but I don’t have ramps or jack stands to check the level myself so I’m thinking have dealer do it.
Yes, used to deal with the "Snow" family members @ Lucas, not sure if they are still there or not, as it's been many years since I was at that facility last...

Never had an issue with that service facility if you're going there. However, I would recommend taking it to Holman on Rte 38; top notch service there and a I've been going to them for years, even when they used to be on 73... never an issue there.

If you're experiencing an issue when driving, before dropping and leaving the car always ask to take a Tech, Service Writer or Shop Forman on a test ride with you - so you can point out the exact issues. It's best to do that rather than just dropping off the car with a "it has this problem"....

I haven’t spent a ton of time with a Camaro that also has the 10R trans. Would be curious if it also whines, I assume it does given it’s basically the same trans, just different programming. @shogun32 any input here, I know you have experience with the Camaro, just not sure if it’s with the 10R trans.

I don't recall any whining. Sure you're not hearing the diff? Yes it was the 10spd

Mine’s very faint and only at idle and very light acceleration from a stop, after that it goes away after it shifts out of 1st gear. I suppose it could be the diff, I haven’t gotten around the car with it running to really pinpoint it. I just assume it’s the trans because I haven’t heard the manual guys talk about the whine, I would assume their would whine too if it was the diff.

Another whine victim here. I bought a new 23 GT about two months ago. I should have waited for the new model but I got impatient and now I'm paying for it. Horrible whine that I consider on the loud side. Its super embarrassing when I'm driving slow in my neighborhood or in a lot. I'm guessing others hear that and think "what's wrong with that pos?" I love everything else about the car and prefer the s550 looks over the s650 but at this point I'm tempted to just trade it for something else all together while its worth what I owe. I have only driven it 800 miles in two months and I'm terrified of changing the oil because I just know I will also have the bbq tick. What's worse is I'm hearing that they engineered the transmission whine and bbq tick out of the new model. Sure wish I had waited or gone mopar, which I also considered. Thanks Ford!

Your source is delusional to ascribe Ford fixing anything in the 650.

I guess I'll have to rent a recent a10 to see what you guys are on about.

I may have already mentioned things this post but I had a performance tune done on my 2018 GT and it changed the trans making it smoother and quieter. I can drive around in sports mode allday.

Yep. That's how mine sounds. I had a 2018 GT from 2018 until a few months ago. That GT did not make any sound at all. The brand-new GT has made the sounds since day #1.
2018 here, I don't hear any trans sounds. Although it is pretty damn clunky and confused until it warms up completely.

Have you checked your trans fluid level.
Brand-new car already checked by Ford two times. They simply say that this "whining" is normal. It sounds like a supercharger and that is not a good thing. The noise just sticks in your head and is so annoying.

I agree with you wholeheartedly! I'm going to look into a class-action suit against Ford. I am the founder of the San Jose Mustangs Car Club. Feel free to email me at [email protected] and I'll show you the letter I sent to Ford. Club website is www.SanJoseMustangs.com
