Mach-1 H-Pipe vs double Y-Pipe vs X-Pipe

I say do it. At least with mine, the H sounds very similar to stock at idle and low rpm’s, just louder. Higher rpms the rasp of the coyote comes through a bit but as Prodigal said, the coyote is naturally raspy so you’re never going to fully get rid of it.

Not to get off topic but if Grabber Blue was available when I ordered the Mach it would have been a no-brainer. Awesome color, love your car.

I just finished my 1 7/8 Kooks w/green cat. Install. I'm very seriously thinking about putting stocks back on. Quiet is still quiet, but from there is a big jump in sound and at higher rpm very raspy to me. I wanted a little louder but normal is now louder than stock track.. I also have considered the Boss side exit but that would have to go on after returning to stock.

If I wanted raspy sound, I would go for GT350. I love the deep V8 sound so H-pipe all the way. This exhaust doesn't need anything else (and replacing those tailpipes is a sacrilege ). Long tube headers sadly change that too much for my liking.

When I listen to the H-pipe at 1:13 and the X-pipe at 2:35, the X is several DB louder and deeper sounding. Maybe my ears don't hear rasp as well as others but I've listened to several of these comparision tests over the years and on a Coyote, NOT any other engine, the difference in sound between the H and X is marginal at best. That's why I went with the Steeda X on my '20 GT with stock active exhausts. It sounds great and I got a few extra horses that the H doesn't provide. X-pipe for the win!

Damn dude. That’s a costly set back. I’ve got the same long tubes and added the h pipe, I love the sound but admit it’s not for the timid. It’s definetly bold in sport mode. I do understand the understated sound of factory exhaust. Good luck with your decision,

I got many compliments on how my F150 sounds. Y pipe to 3 inch single magnaflow straight through muffler, then 3 inch to the stock exit.

I wish I could get my Mustang to sound as good.

I wonder about a y to y pipe. I see a post has been deleted or edited.

I'm thinking about going from 2 1/2 Y pipe in to 4 inch then to 3 inch Y out.

I have been thinking seriously about the headers for my car. All of the sound clips on the tube and here, the cars sound awesome.

Before swapping out the headers, installing the factory resonator might do the trick for you.

Good luck on either way you go, if you do swap the headers let me know, I might get them from you.

I guess I did fail to mention this is with stock resonator still installed. And I'm not saying any of this "sounds" bad. Just goes from quiet to really loud and louder from there, I really like the stock tone and quiet medium then loud.
I like the Boss side exit but have always leaned towards the H pipe sound over X. Maybe modify and H to connect to the side exit from the kit..

Question I have is= who makes the best fitting/highest quality mid pipes.

Steeda appears to be the most common, but does this mean best fitting?

It would be nice to have something that fits like oem but flows and sounds proper.

My MRT H pipe was/is perfect.

All the modes are the same as always except quiet mode.
It’s slightly louder than normal quiet mode however, the more I press down on the gas the more the valves open.
it’s great on the highway, car will run quiet until I want to overtake and suddenly the sound gets louder.

Asked him if it was possible to program the valves and he said yeh no problem.

This is what I'm thinking about going with.

... I love the rasp and rowdy sound with the X-pipe. Sounds more "racey" and exotic to me so I'm sticking with the X still.

Has that few extra horses been confirmed anywhere? Are there any comparison tests of HvX on the dyno with a Mach1? I see that Steeda did 2021 GT HvX and now 2024 GT HvX. I was curious because on the 2024 they saw less than 1% gain vs what they got from the 2021 (which was only slightly more).
