I sprayed some vent cleaner in my AC ducts. I must have sprayed too much when I drove away, after waiting the 10 min with the fan on high, some moisture rolled down the 4 inch screen. About a minuet later the screen went out, after another min the radio quit working.

I have to have a radio. What is my best option for fixing this.

Thanks

Is there any way to test this stuff or do I just replace the head unit and the screen?

Reads like a lot of material dropped recently. Any chance the items are still wet? There's a chance the items simply need to dry out. Damage can and does happen. But sometimes, electronics recover once dry. BTW, are the fuses still in-tact?

Check your fuses. If they have not blown, pull the applicable fuses for a few days to take power off the circuits in hope they may dry out without creating the potential for more short circuits. If that does not work you may indeed have to replace the affected components.

Try parking the car out in the sun or throw a moisture absorbing pack in there to see if that will wick away any moisture and restore it to functional status.

No fuses blown. Yes I'll let it dry out.

Good news there are a ton of these on the used market

This seems common and I ve read about it on other forums (other brands).
People after getting cars detailed have experienced the same issue. Believed to be moister getting inside, sometimes thru CD area.
In this situation only time will tell, but usually the unit is ruined.
I d hold off a few days and see if it was me.
It s a good warning to be careful when detailing this area.

I was going to mention that. Upgrading the factory radio is very popular so the used factory parts are plentiful, if something is fried.

What beside the screen, radio unit and trim piece needs to be changed to upgrade to the 8 inch screen?

Wait, wait. First dismantle the FCIM (the front bezel with the AC commands and screen), then remove screen, APIM (the Sync module) and ACM (the 4 channel stereo amplifier with integrated CD player for those who have the B&O).
Do you have B&O?

Inspect everything after you dismantled it, if you can open the modules where fluid leaked in and wash thoroughly with PCB cleaner.
Dry it at room temperature and/or in the owen at a moderate temperature (60-70 °C max) and keep it a few milliliters open to let condensation get out.
This was you have displaced everything that is conductible with a solvent that will evaporate.
Don't forget to check and clean the wiring looms in the car, a little alcohool spray on them to displace everything conductive and washing the contacts will not hurt.

Did I say it? Disconnect the battery before doing anything.

Now, test one piece at a time. If you can supply them power separately from the car, better.
Use Forscan to check for DTCs in the modules when you reinstall them.

Car electronics are generally well tropicalized.
